Man United vs Arsenal

Behave yourself,it's still a big game.

The teams may not be where they'd like to be at this moment in time but it will take a very long time of decline into Midtable mediocrity before it becomes a small game.

Even in the 80s when Manure were gash they were still considered a big game and I the mid 90s when George Graham turned us dire the games were big, just utter garbage.

Let's not fall into the trap of Sky telling us what is a big game and what isn't.

The derby is still huge even if it doesn't have the same appeal to an outside audience as it did when both teams were challenging for the title.

Of course it is to us and people who get the rivalry, but that's my point. For about 5 years straight it was a title decider and possibly the biggest game in world football aside from Barca - Real. Nowhere near that now.

AC Milan v Inter Milan has fallen a long way. Both teams have a few average players in their line ups these days and both unrecognizable. I'm sure this game still means a hell of lot locally but unless you're actually following Italian football weekly, you just don't look out for this game anymore. Maybe its just Italian football in general that has fallen but this game just isn't ' massive ' anymore for me.

Apart from my own clubs fixtures, there were others around the world i would really look forward to watching.

AC Milan v Inter Milan
Lazio v Roma
Madrid v Barcelona
Genoa v Sampdoria
Benfica v Porto
Celtic v Rangers
Man Utd v Arsenal
Boca Juniors v River Plate
Ajax v Feyenoord
Juventus v AC Milan

A good few of those fixtures just don't have the same pull for me.

Old Etonians against the Old Carthusians. Apparently after the F.A Cup Final of 1881, Old Etonians,in a fit of pique after losing, refused a second glass of port.
Still not forgotten to this day in the cloistered circles of the Old Carthusians.
Interesting then forgotten fact of the day :
The club that has provided the most England players is Corinthians with 75. We are fifth with 66, one behind you know who.
Old Carthusians have provided nine, including such luminaries as :
Arthur Melmoth Walters and Percy Melmoth Walters - known, with Oscar Wilde wit, as morning and afternoon.
Charles Wreford Brown who is sometimes credited with inventing the term soccer
William 'Nuts' Cobbold who, wherever possible, refused to head the ball and
Walter Evelyn Gilliat who, on his only England appearance, scored a hat-trick within the first thirty minutes.
What have we got today : overgrown children spitting their dunmies out, whining and moaning, before being poleaxed by a stray feather floating in the gentle breeze.
Old Carthusians is now my second club. How apposite that they play in the Arthurian league, and are top.

Haha at Lancing Old Boys.

The Sheffield derby
Living in Sheffield, I wouldn't say it's no longer a big game... more that it just hasn't been a game at all whilst one of them are still languishing in the 3rd tier. If they were both in the Prem it would be heated for sure.

the merseyside derby. We dont enjoy it and the game is not seen as anything other than beating them lot again from their perspective.

City vs united- Before city was slaying their giant neighbors, now its a game of who is the richest and the passion has faded out of it somewhat.

@Yid4life, how is your game?

Agreed.

spent three years then, it is anything but a small game.

A lot of hate in that City.
