Er, because we were 45 minutes from getting relegated?? we shouldnt of been there in the first place, it wasnt until the last weeks of the season the fans got behind the team, i said all last season we have to support them, but loads were sulking and throwing hissy fits because they didnt like the manager, it was pathetic

This argument always confuses me. For the first two months or so the fans were very supportive and the team played like crap. Why didn't the support make them play better if that is important to players? So at some point their continuing bad play caused fans to respond negatively. And now that is being blamed for their crap play. Is the theory that if you are a complete failure at your job no one should say anything? And if they don't say anything that will make you do better? Why?

There are other factors obviously. Some players just don't like the previous coach and that gives an instantaneous lift when a new man comes in. Some may have had their confidence rocked to the bottom and perhaps are questioning their own ability, support or no support they'll need a trigger to regain it thereafter.
We also have to consider how the manager sets out the team and whether it suits the players at his disposal. If 4 players are in incorrect positions or being asked to do something they aren't comfortable with, again all the support in the world isn't going to make the team suddenly play like a top 4 club.
The point is the players may not lose their confidence so quickly if they have the backing of the fans. As soon as the negatively started against Brighton you could see the players wilt into their shells. Compare against Palace we went down two-nil and the fans were still onside so the fight remained.

Funny how it's players who have never played at the top top level that come out and say this.
Because bottom line is that you stink out United, City, Real, Barca....you know about it

Are you aware, that at some clubs in Italy, that the players and the board, meet with the clubs " Ultras " to discuss what`s going on, on the pitch ?
Some of those meetings aren`t very friendly at all.
