Bill Kenwright

Under Moyes we had a very decent side that just needed investment to take us through that glass ceiling. We’d wait for years for investment to come whilst watching plenty of other clubs able to find it, only for bill to tell us, “he’s not selling until he knows it’s the right deal for Everton”. Better to go slow and get it right etc, so we all had to sit tight whilst his defenders pointed at the Venkys at Blackburn etc as a way of justifying kenwrights inability to find investment, bit by bit that decent side we had got older or left the club and our best chance of putting money into an already capable team was gone. To top all that off kenwright then found us owners he deemed right for Everton and still managed to keep his place on the board and it’s been a disaster ever since. That’s not taking into account all the stupid “good times “ “ watch this space” nonsense, or his proven lies and failed stadium moves either. The man has been a nightmare for the club.

You make some good points, but I'd argue even with investment Moyes wouldn't have broken through the glass ceiling.

I appreciate that's not the point you're making but Moyes is a serial loser who bottles it when the chips are down.

West Ham have given him plenty of backing and they're in a similar state as Everton.

Moyes reached his level at a club who were in no danger of winning anything and had no real pressure to do so.

His skillset was perfect for a club strapped for resources with very modest expectations. As soon as that environment changed, he was a fish out of water.

Moyes would never have won anything at Everton. He doesn't have the tools to do that. He's a specialist in making do modestly, and he does that very well indeed.

Yep, no argument with any of that.

He can't 'kick on' no matter how big a budget he gets.

It's not in his locker.

Compare his time at United to Van Gaal and Mourinho - two of the greatest managers of their generations. As bad as United were - and as much as both of those two eventually failed too - both of those won a trophy or two at United. That's because, as bad as things got for them at a dysfunctional club, they still had the tools to win a cup when the opportunity presented itself.

Mods; can you do a chart showing:

- how many times each poster abused a hapless football chairman in here

versus

- how many times the same poster abused Prime Ministers causing callus suffering of the weak and vulnerable in their country.

If could entitle this helpful thread “It’s a game, sort your priorities mate” then I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for it. Cheers.

Welcome to another day of your life, GOTers.

Yeah. Wouldn’t argue with your point about Moyes too much, still think that was the period when we were best positioned for investment.

He likes to remind everyone he won the Charity Shield whilst at Man Utd

Think at that point and as harsh it was if we had some investment given to Moyes and it didn’t work a proper serious board with business and football men would of allowed us the chance to push forward.

Problem was since 2014/15 the squad started to go backwards apart from the 16/17 season where lashed finished in our highest position and qualifying for Europe before then blowing the money with an under qualified DOF and a manger the DOF did not pick which as been one of the same number problem that we have not fixed for years.

Hopefully I would be near the top of both
