He does not have a high ceiling. The game has moved past him. The praise he got for that game against England was embarrassing. You honestly watch the below and see a great performance?
I'm not sure if you have noticed or not but it's nearly 2023 not 2020, since then Gilmour has failed to make the grade at Chelsea, failed to pull up any trees at Norwich and then failed again to hold down a place at Brighton. He also didn't make the last International squad. There is some obvious ability there with the lad but I just don't think he is suited towards this league/game hence why he has been linked with moves abroad.Disagree, these lads too.

The fact that he can’t get into the current Scottish squad, tells you all you need to know, about his current level.
He’ll either be playing in Turkey or league one next year.
Garner can't break into anything because he is out for 3 months with a back injury. None of our new midfielders have impressed me tbh as the setup is so wrong it's not getting the best out of them. If he is so great then surely one of the big teams will come in for him?By that logic has James Garner failed to make grade and on the scrap heap, rejected by Utd, wasn’t signed by the team he promoted with and can’t break into the Everton team. Garners older than Gilmour, yet we see him as one for the future. Gilmour has CL experience and a Medal and played at World Level.
If you apply much of the logic in this thread on Gilmour to Garner, well……
Every player we have signed has had their own thread at some stage!Normally when a thread gets started on here the player never arrives, I think that’s what @MikeH72 is hoping for.
Yes mate but after we’ve signed them, how many threads have we had of players were linked with but never signed.Every player we have signed has had their own thread at some stage!

Most players have 1 before the sign . Very few don't as links appear.Yes mate but after we’ve signed them, how many threads have we had of players were linked with but never signed.
It's as valid as you quoting stuff about his form from 3 years ago ffs. Nobody has said Gilmours career is over, they just don't rate him and you seem to have a massive issue with this. Hopefully his career gets back on track, I'm saying nothing more on the subject as it's boring the hell out of me and I want to go smoke a joint, have a fun evening mateCome on mate, Garners injury came in the close season, that’s not a valid point. My point is Gilmour is younger, achieved more so far, yet both are the same age, Gilmour younger, yet we see Garner as one with potential for the future and Gilmour career is over, yet both are inhabiting the same space in their development at their respective clubs. I’m not slating either, I’m challenging the prevailing logic and reframing amongst players with clear parrells in their profiles showing the obvious contradiction.
He’s young mate, it’s my understanding Chelsea didn’t want to sell, but the lad himself said he wanted to move to try and get more game time. It’s up to him now, he has the technical ability but has to develop and progress, he’s still very young, i wouldnt rule out a move up the ladder in the future, but it’s up to the lad. It’s easy to comment on the present, it’s harder and braver to try and predict the future, that’s not a reason why we shouldn’t try and do it. It’s a bit of fun at the end of the day and if nothing else lads get all worked up and you trigger them to start threads like this. It’s all a bit of fun,
I like it, if you see something in a player have the guts to say it, it’s half the fun of this place and sure laugh a long if you drop a clanger. I like Billy though, he has a rare composure and technical ability.
