Come on mate, Garners injury came in the close season, that’s not a valid point. My point is Gilmour is younger, achieved more so far, yet both are the same age, Gilmour younger, yet we see Garner as one with potential for the future and Gilmour career is over, yet both are inhabiting the same space in their development at their respective clubs. I’m not slating either, I’m challenging the prevailing logic and

reframing amongst players with clear parrells in their profiles showing the obvious contradiction.

He’s young mate, it’s my understanding Chelsea didn’t want to sell, but the lad himself said he wanted to move to try and get more game time. It’s up to him now, he has the technical ability but has to develop and progress, he’s still very young, i wouldnt rule out a move up the ladder in the future, but it’s up to the lad. It’s easy to comment on the present, it’s harder and braver to try and predict the future, that’s not a reason why we shouldn’t try and do it. It’s a bit of fun at the end of the day and if nothing else lads get all worked up and you trigger them to start threads like this. It’s all a bit of fun,

I like it, if you see something in a player have the guts to say it, it’s half the fun of this place and sure laugh a long if you drop a clanger. I like Billy though, he has a rare composure and technical ability.
He has achieved little. You are giving him credit for a CL medal he contributed next to nothing towards. Like giving David May credit for Uniteds 1999 trebel season. Garner at least has one solid Championship season under his belt. Gilmour has nothing more than a handful of appearances for Chelsea and Scotland where he was beat and tidy. He is just another Barry Bannan

The quote I posted from 2020 was in response to a post of a video clip posted to me, from a game in 2020 and his perfromence in that game so the context is relevant, you misinterpreted it.

0 issue with lads posting opinion and not rating him, it’s a debating forum ffs…this is the point contrasting views - I’m actually being civil responding to points you made quoting me, so not sure how I have a serious issue with lads not rating him, you started the interaction, I’m not going to be a sheep and agree when I don’t, not rating him is defo the prevailing passive view, but that’s the fun. lol

Enjoy mate! ;)

It is good to debate these things. Give me an example of another player of his profile (height, build, athleticism and skill set) who has been a success in the PL?

Would disagree there he was excellent in the semi Vs Spurs.

Paul Scholes, Kante, Joe Allen.

Not PL but Alan Ball was smaller.

Id accept stature is a depleting attribute, to make it you have to exceptional technical ability like the above, thats one the lads strongest traits.

You can’t compare to someone from Balls era. The average height of a man was probably 2-3 inches shorter back then.

The Kante comparison is horrible. Kante is a top tier athlete great acceleration and can run all day. Paul Scholes is more like it but he was bordering on a generational talent. Gilmour is not that

Joe Allen is the closest match. He was a pretty ordinary PL player for a few seasons before ending up in the championship (noted he was effected by a bad injury). Had a decent international career.

Im not comparing lads at the end of the careers with a just gone 21 year old lad mate, that wasn’t the question. The question you asked was there anyone of his height, stature and similar attributes who was a sccess in the PL.

I don’t think we should be looking to sign the next Joe Allen.

Arteta was a good couple of inches taller than Gilmour. Pre ACL Arteta has also very agile with good balance and actually played pretty well out wide with for us because we was able to move the ball quickly to create half a yard of space to cross. I don’t think Gilmour has this. Arteta could also really crack a football.

Osman is the better comparison and I am not convinced Osman could play in the modern day PL

Was a little bit taller mate. Jack Wiltshire and Steve Pienaar are closer. ;)

Santi Cazorla, was smaller, he was a beautiful player.

David Silva.

Quite a few actually.

With all it becomes clear though you have to have superb technical ability, though Kante, Ndidi, Torreira and Alan Ball mock that a bit.

Billy Bremner was .5 meters shorter than Gilmour.
