Well I dont wish to pour scourn on Dixies Mum, but it could be that the chap that registered as his father wasnt his father. As Davey boy said, his Mum could have hopped in the sack with some sailor.

I guess we will never know, but I for 1, dont care if he was black, white or green.

I'm going to do it nonetheless. Still be quite interesting.

Dixie gets the knockback from the committee of the Prenton Golf Club. Black balling bastards.

One of the most popular footballers in the 1920s was William Dean. However, he was commonly known as "Dixie Dean". This was a reference to his dark complexion and his curly black hair. Dean hated being called "Dixie" and insisted that his friends and acquaintances used his real name. His biographer, Nick Walsh, argues in Dixie Dean: The Official Biography of a Goalscoring Legend (1977) that Dean felt that the term "had connections with colour problems connected with the Southern states of America, and therefore contained an inference that he was of that origin, or half-caste."

Dixie Dean was leaving the pitch after a game in 1938 when a spectator called out: "We will get you yet, you black [Poor language removed]." Dean went over to him and punched him in the face. A policeman came running over but instead of arresting him, shook him by the hand.

Superb.

That's why I thought Ghost would enjoy it. (y)

Leave you guys for 5 minutes, 5 fecking minutes:lol:, and you run riot(n) wish i'd seen that Scotblue post, no doubt I'd have exploded(y) (no, don't run it back to me, being banned for most of us aint easy on this site so it must have been real bad).

All i'd say is that this is an internet forum. We can hide behind our keyboards and play all types of internet lardmen. Some of the views by Ghost I've found uncomfortable. Even so, so long as it doesn't go over the top (scotblue) , the fact I don't like them doesn't mean we shouldn't debate them such as his interesting views on immigration.

I actually posted a thread on racism amongst Everton fans sometime back and it barely crawled past one page.

I just thank God we're not those other forums. I'd be war.

As for the issue of Dixie, I've no proof, and I'd need some firm proof before I "outed" him in that way. I simply dont know either way.

Peace and love.

What views do you find uncomfortable mate. Maybe I can clarify my position more.
