That video is ace. More power to whoever dreamed that community project up. There is life after work and community after illness. Shuffling down the pub with the dog and the days racing card for a slow days boozing isn't sustainable.

I think Chris has handled himself well in here getting it from all angles.

He doesn't revert to insults and right or wrong he debates well.
Its so easy to sling mud on the internet on any debate

My old manager did some work on the pilot scheme evaluation for that I believe.

It is a great initiative. Loneliness and lack of connection is awful and for blokes a big reality after a certain age or life change.

My dad just did a couple of years helping with this after he retired (back in work now) and loved it. Did a lot of work with retired military people too.

However, I think gently enthusing over men in sheds and radio 4 are probably safer bets than debating black history month

They have mens sheds here as well, my mate was telling me his next door neighbour retired about 5 years ago and was a regular at one of the local ones. He had to stop going because the atmosphere was toxic and all the old farts arguing and backstabbing each other and he got accused of stealing some corn they were growing lol

Honestly don't think I'd have survived nearly 30 years on a female dominated profession teaching in mixed gender schools if I were a sexist. I think this is your perception or prejudice based on a few comments you have misunderstood or chosen to take out of context. You're not alone in that to he fair.

I can understand that ... its probably because I get so irritated that much of Radio and TV output (especially during the day ... since I retired) seems to be purely for the interest of women and I don't see that as particularly fair or balanced. That's what I'm railing against- not women themselves.

Me ma was a woman. And my sister, I think.

Average Labour participation rates worldwide are around 80% for men and 64% for women, they’re just making shows for their target audience. It’s not balanced but neither are the rates of people who don’t work. I’m guessing because for the best part of a century men have told them to stay at home and raise the kids.

You need a fire stick or streaming service in your life mate, watching terrestrial or sky/cable tv is like living in the dark ages
