Blues abroad needing to explain why they are Blues...

I always recall the Monty Python (at least I think it was them) sketch about Liverpool and supporting Everton
It was the movie the Rutles...eric idle interviewing Roger mcgough near the pier head.." born in Liverpool..went to school in Liverpool..even got married in Liverpool..and of course..supports EVERTON "..Classic🤣..its on YouTube but I don't know how to put it on here 😁utft

I love the opportunity to bore anyone about how Everton are the original club.

Tell 'em they're only our "b*****d offspring, should work 😉🤣🤣🤣
Both these work beautifully on any plastic fan of any denomination, but especially plassy RS bellwhiffs - you can see the brain cell trying to and failing to compute the information.

I’ve had plassy RS heads fall off over the fact we won our first league title at Anfield ffs.

There’s a reason why we sing about history, it matters.

I'm not from Merseyside, though my dad was.

I get asked why I support Everton a lot when conversations with new people move to football.

It honestly doesn't bother me. I don't feel like anyone ever questions whether or not I'm 'entitled' to be an Evertonian - and I don't think I'd care much if they did, as its no one's business but mine.

But by the same token, I find myself looking down my nose at any Liverpool fans who aren't from Merseyside.

I reckon non-local Liverpool fans are - rightly - treated with more disdain generally. They have to justify their support, but I don't think we Evertonians do.

Merely wanting to be an Evertonian is enough. To consciously choose this life of pain and suffering is the literal antithesis of glory hunting.
I don't care if somebody doesn't support their local team, if you're parents are Glaswegians are you grow up in London and support Celtic or Rangers, not an issue. If you come from Slovakia and support West Ham, so what? I don't consider myself more of a fan, than an Everton fan from Bristol, just cos I'm local. The issue I have with the RS, is they present themselves are being these Scouse anti establishment Ultras, when they are a ground full of day trippers. People support Everton, because we love Everton. Also our support is great, despite the fact we have been crap for years, they had a few bad months under Hodgson and their attendances went down to 33 000. TBF to United when they were crap in 70s and 80s they were still getting bigger attendances than RS and filling away ends. RS are worse supporters ever.

My Dads only failure in life was being a Liverpool fan, it’s my siblings failure too, and the cousin that lived down the road. Not me though, my favourite colour is blue, I like toffee, and my gran bought me an Everton scarf. Oh yeah and the team was bloody amazing when I was kid. The only way my kids would become Liverpool fans is if they hate me.

Had a great moment walking through the capital square in Zanzibar whilst wearing my Everton shirt a few years ago. A local lad just shouted "James Beattie" at me. He spoke no other English. I just gave him a big smile, took my shirt off and gave it to him and said "up the toffees". He did his best to repeat it. Like to think I spread the message a little bit there.
