Boss photos you've taken

Cheers @Bilbo - always appreciate getting the facts from you as I thought Salvador was a fella! I like the clarity of your moth images. I've been experimenting with extreme macro and managed to get this close to I believe the same species, tho' this one's colours are a bit different. This view filled the viewfinder, so it's originally a 36mp pic...I think it must be at least 5:1 macro:

You've got some good detail in the eye - and that's where the aim point always has to be.

Extreme macro is challenging - and sometimes when I do such photos I can get a negative response rather than a positive one (I can't tell what it is... I'd rather see the whole face/thing...)

Viewers can be fussy - so now I always take the pic that I want because after all, impressing the masses is less important than me being happy with the choice of perspective I make - if I like it, then that's job done. If some don't, unlucky them, lol..

Agree with you there. With this extreme macro I wasn't going for artistically-pleasing, just wanted to see how much of his face I could fill in the viewfinder...the lack of depth-of-field is a hell of a challenge when photographing live macros...no chance to photostack. but it's quite amazing just to watch especially feeding spiders through a big viewfinder with extreme macro setup...it's like you're right there with them...taking the pic (or a video even...unless you have the talent of BBC videographers) isn't the same as watching them so close-up do their thing. Saying that, taking the pic is a great substitute...it's why we're so addicted to macro photography. 12 years since I took my first spider shot with a compact Canon Powershot...remains as addictive as ever!

Here are some more from this summer...do you recognise all of them? the red one is barely visible to the naked eye, just a tiny red dot...very hard to image as it was scarpering at some speed.

#1 and #3 are orb weavers (the latter probably the walnut).

#2 is I think a running spider, #5 is a red spider mite.

#4 is one of the Salticidae jumping spiders - I suspect it is Evarcha falcata, female.

#6 is that bloke from Star Wars. lol... (that means I'm unsure what that particular one is, heheheh)...

Hi fellas, since this is a bit of a photography thread I wouldn't mind a bit of advice. Later on in the summer we're of to Disney with my grandson, for the occasion I bought a second hand Nikon 3100 which has been great. it came with the standard 18-55 lens. I am looking at buying another lens that would give me a better range of photos maybe a bit of a wide angled zoom lens but nothing to expensive any advice would be appreciated.
