Green alkanet, although pretty with its delicate blue flowers, can be invasive in a garden. In the wild, you will come across green alkanet in scrubs, hedges and on river banks. The first half of the Latin name, Pentaglottissempervirens, means "five tongues" referring the five petals on the flower, whilst the second word means "evergreen".

Was growing out of a slate/stone wall amongst ferns. Hardy but very pretty.

I’ve never been, but I’ve read that Terns nest there - beautiful birds, float up and down like a kite on a string.

It’s a bit run down to be honest, no real footpath as such and doesn’t look like it gets many visitors, but that’s great for the wildlife which is the purpose I suppose.

Just looked at the website - 150 pairs of Common Tern nest there ( massive number )

Website says it’s closed to visitors though ?

Yes the website does but you just have to go inside the port to the port police station and they give you a one day visitors pass.

What a lovely surprise off the wife. I knew I was getting this nice lens but she surprised me with a new Canon 90D, possibly to stop me talking about itlol the Image quality of my photos will now go to another level. I’ve loved the Canon 2000D, it’s been a great beginners camera and I’d recommend it to anyone, but this 90D is superior in every way.

Just took this photo this evening. I know this turtle by the mark on its back, which was a (very thankfully) near-miss from my riding lawn mower a few weeks back. I'm very glad they're still alive.

I don't know how common they are, but I've never photographed one before. I think this is a Snout Mite - Bdellidae in the order of Trombidiformes (of which there are about 11 genera and at least 260 described species in Bdellidae).
Believe me, this one was ALWAYS running - I'm astounded I got any images partially in focus! Either way - I'm really happy finding this bug! Size around <1mm.
