Boss photos you've taken

I don't know how common they are, but I've never photographed one before. I think this is a Snout Mite - Bdellidae in the order of Trombidiformes (of which there are about 11 genera and at least 260 described species in Bdellidae).
Believe me, this one was ALWAYS running - I'm astounded I got any images partially in focus! Either way - I'm really happy finding this bug! Size around <1mm.

Paul.

Can I ask how you find these to even photograph them?

Loving your work as always @Bilbo

I’ve been considering getting more involved in photography for a while. I’ve just got a PC, is there any good free editing software that’ll get me started?
Cheers Bainsey.

If you don't want to pay for Photoshop (and Lightroom), a free alternative is GIMP that works the same way as PS.

Another free one is Photo Pos Pro which has a novice mode and an expert mode.

I'm sure they are both free anyway.

Paul.

Stonechat, common Whitethroat, not sure what the flower is.

Was that a Seaforth again ?

Ps - Another place I can highly recommend is the shoreline and surrounding area around Hale Lighthouse.

You get all the waders on the shore and all the farmland birds along the shoreline, as well as rarities likeBarn Owls, Little Owls and even things like Marsh Harriers and Peregrines.

When I go running down there, I’m forever stopping to look at what’s going on around me lol

Plus you can have a pint and something to eat in the Childe of Hale.

Thank you. I saw GIMP mentioned a lot. I'm just a bit paranoid about downloading dodgy stuff on my new machine, so good to know it's reputable.

No that was Burbo Bank in Crosby.
Thanks for the tip, I’ll drive down there sometime.

Mere Sands woods is nice near Ormskirk, not sure if you can run round there but I don’t see why not. Very thick woodland this time of year mind you so not a lot of breeze or air for runners.

Skylark, must be under some kind of study looking at the rings on its legs

Massively in decline, reckoned up to 75%, so it`ll have possibly caught in a mist net during an RSPB study.

I can remember when it seemed that every field and every bit of flat scrub had a pair on it. The only place by us now you can see them, is the fields off Oglett Shore.

Tragic, as they`re such a beautiful bird, with that really uplifting song, as they fly higher and higher into the sky.

Ps - Lovely photo, as they`re hard to get near.
