Boss photos you've taken

Here is the same little fly, this time from more front on than the triptych images. It actually blew 3 bubbles during the spell I was out there looking through the lens.

Paul.

Your macro stuff is amazing Bilboooooo

Back in Vegas in a couple of weeks, so just flicking through last years pics. Loved how this one came out, mostly become it summed up the night before beautifully

It's on my wish list mate, believe me.

It's a fixed lens correct? So did you have to crop that considerably?

It's a fixed lens yes.

The original has been cropped - the main reason (apart from the in your face impact!) is that because the 5D Mk2 camera is full frame, it is a lot harder than cropped sensor cameras to fill the frame with something so small as a fly, so a lot of the composition has to come from the Photoshop stage, as much as getting close at the time.

Paul.

That's neat Alio - this "street, or candid style is cool, but not one that I ever try.

Carlos, sadly not many animals in my garden dude...

*Obvious question alert...

How would I go about doing some kind of marco photos? I've got a Nikon D31OO with a 18-55 and a 55-200 lens

I'm not gonna take photos like yours over night, but would I need a lens around the price you've mentioned to start taking pics like that (a lot worse than yours, granted)...but just wondering

Nice one. How close were you?

Look for macro extension tubes for Nikon on amazon mate, Polaroid do some good ones. They're a good way to start practicing macro without splurging four hundred notes on marco lens. Obviously I want the macro lens too but only when I'm good at this macro business.
