Boss photos you've taken

You can get 10 centimeteres from your subject, but it won't give you 1 to 1 magnification as the lens is a zoom lens not a macro lens.

One problem for macro is you need to be critically sharp with the focus, and on the HS10 the viewfinder is sharp and bright enough for general use, but in manual focus mode it uses digital magnification to enlarge the centre of the image. This causes the image to pixilate badly, making it impossible to tell if it is in focus or not.

On a small bit of plastic pond liner, tucked away under the paving stones that overlap my little pond, were loads of pale little lumps that were twitching to the naked eye.

Thanks to 3 extension tubes and a bit of a crop, the movement is revealed as a Springtail Boogie Session! Lots of little Globular Springtails, each one less than the size of a pinhead. Almost certainly these are the Sminthurides aquaticus variety.

Used flash & an ISO 500 to get enough light into the area, and a touch of NR in post-production.

On September 1st 2011, the BBC reported on a newly discovered "Bansky". But not a "Bansky" if you know what I mean.

The mural in Avenham Park, Preston, created by a mystery spray painter, is believed to depict Saint Teresa, who lived in the 16th century. Not exactly a "Banksy" as the artist is believed to be known only as "Parle". It has been painted on the front of a disused building on the Vernon Carus cricket field in Avenham Park.

Now in a bit of a state of dis-repair, parts of it have fallen off or have been vandalised.

Series of images taken at Fell Foot, up Longridge way (outside of Preston in the Trough of Bowland). These paragliders often go there and launch themselves into the thermals then soar in the sky before landing safely on the hillsides.
