Boss photos you've taken

I rarely do portraits, mainly because I tend to be pretty crap at people pictures!

However, this is one of the photographs I took today of Megan - the kid from next door that comes round to ours most weekends to keep Rachel (my daughter) company.

Today, the three of us went to the park, ostensibly for me just to use the camera, and we decided that I would of course take pics of Megan, Rachel, the park or landscape, and hopefully one of Haslem's Parks squirrels.

Believe me, Megan drove us nuts (see what I did there (squirrel?)) but she and Rachel enjoyed the walk and I got a few photo's along the way.

So, anyway, back to Megan, first image. Remember I don't do people/portraits as a rule. Natural light, using the nifty fifty on the 70D for the first time.

Nice bokeh. Are you wide open there or have you stopped it down a couple?

This wasp (looking rather drunk during this session I must say) is doing well to keep its balance on this small stone in the garden today. It wobbled a lot, tried flying and didn't get far. It was either close to the end of its natural, or it was stoned on fruit juice or something... Got a few of it as it went about it's business.

Nice wasp Bilbo.

When it was stumbling around did you flick the back of it's head and poke it in the face while shouting, " SEE HOW YOU LIKE IT, YOU STRIPEY [Poor language removed]!"

They may well only have short lives, so perhaps tomorrow is very important...

Anyway, these two very very very small flies were at it hammer and tongues. He was literally shoving her all around the leaf and she didn't have much chance of getting a grip to stop him!

Size wise? If you are typing on a standard keyboard, each fly is about the size of the minus sign on the numeric keypad on the right! About 1mm, a fraction bigger at best!

You'll appreciate, even with extension tubes, that this is a large crop... and I couldn't get it any sharper without spoiling it.
