Boxing

Funny thing about tje long list of grest white hopes is none of them have any actual ability, funny thing id the original one labelled as that could actually fight a bit - Gerry Cooney, just ran into a peak Larry Holmes and never recovered from the beating he took near the end

Hes a exciting tv fighter mate, which when used to describe a upcoming fighter tends to mean their not that good, good fighters dont have wars every fight on the way up

Exactly. No technical ability whatsoever. Just watched that Chisora fight... bloody hell. The state of the heavyweights since the 90s has been badly grim.

Even at the best times in the history of the division the quality was always better by miles in lower duvisions mate, then i grew up on arguello-prior, chavez- taylor and nelson- sanchez

i seen chisora vs fury a few years back, i don't watch boxing that much but thought they were both utterly terrible, thought they'd never be big names at all.

are they really two of the best britain has to offer?

Hi lads, I know there's a few boxing fans on here, a good friend of mine is fighting on a frank warren promotion at the York Hall on sat 22nd of feb.... His name is mark Evans, he's fighting a lad called Mitchell smith in a super featherweight contest... The show is live on box nation too.

Great white hope is a american term used almost soley in reference to american and british fighters with irish or italian ancestry mate, down to them being massive crowd pullers especially in the big commercial markets like NYC etc

For the pure fact you've abbreviated the word atmosphere there I'd like to challenge you to a street fight.

please, don't even compare the sweet science to that utter beaut fest

It's not the excitement itself, heavyweight boxers dance and clinch around for 36 minutes until the inevitable dodgy hometown decision.

The fight I embedded took place in Stoke and could easily (if unjustly) have gone to Conrad Hayes (from Stoke) especially with Dean Garrett (from Liverpool) landing a borderline foul at 10:27 - so no dodginess there.

While MMA main cards may be quite similar in that there isn't a great deal of actual hitting, the factor of suffering is generally much greater, hence it is more entertaining.

Oh and if it's science you're after, just think of how (like boxing) one screw up or misjudgment in MMA can have serious consequences. As follows:
