Boxing

berto was probably the money fight, but maindana put that to rest, good tough fighter, but all wrong to beat floyd, hopefully bradley beats pacman, that would be a big fight, maybe not a entertaining one though, or danny garcia steps up to welter

Just seems strange with Khan winning the poll that he hasn't picked him, a fight with Khan would also generate more money than what he'l do for Maidana.

Don't see Bradley beating Pacquiao myself, interesting fight, looking forward to it. Isn't it Bradleys last fight with top rank so that fight could still be made although it would lose a lot of appeal should Pacquiao beat him.

Not too many names stand out for Floyds remaining 3 fights of this contract, I see Golovkin saying he is willing to come down in weight to fight him, but I don't see him getting the fight.

now that would be a fight, hell of an ask for a small welterweight to beat a heavy punching middleweight, that really would be a legacy cementing win, like you I cant see it. Unless Pacquio has found some of his old swagger, and boxers very rarely do, I see Bradley beating him. Rios was cherry picked for pacquio to look good, can't say I was massively impressed, I was however very impressed with the job Bradley did on JMM, even if it wasn't quite as good as the terrible sky commentry team were making out

They are truly awful at times, I couldn't believe Watt had Bute winning the recent Pascal fight, by far and away the worse commentary i'v listened to of a fight.

Rios was definitely cherry picked, but I don't really see any problem with it. He's now in his mid 30's, has been in numerous wars down the years because of his style, had just come off a really bad ko, did people really expect him to come back against a top level, heavy handed fighter ? He needed a morale boosting win before he got back in against Bradley, JMM or even Floyd, and its what he got, thought he looked good myself.

I think he's back to working solely on boxing when he's fighting which he hadn't been for quite a while before the ko, I think he'l win in April but I can definitely see a case for Bradley, was really impressed with him against JMM, the only thing I would say against his win was JMM looked like his age had finally caught as it does at some point for nearly all fighters.

I didn't have a problem with him taking the fight, just wasn't all that impressed with him, I think he probably peaked against Cotto, and due to the nature of his career, the hangers on and other interests, he's been on a decline since then. Bradley is tough as they come, he's smart too, it wasn't the best of JMM and pacquio should have got the decision when they first fought, worth remembering Bradley fought a lot of the fight with a broken ankle.

Could not agree more about the Bute fight, I turned the commentry off after round five, his little sidekick halling is the worst boxing commentator I've ever hear, and Watt needs to, its getting embarrasing, then back to the studio for glenn 'i sparred tyson once' mcCory. Bute is and always has been terrible, I remember telling people how bad he was before the froch fight, one of the few betting occasions I actually made some money

I wonder does Watt have anyone to answer to when he calls a fight so badly wrong, most likely not.

What do you think of the Cotto Martinez bout? Both ageing but an interesting fight all the same.

I think Martinez is a little removed from his paul williams days, still very good, I havent seen Cotto fight since the floyd match up, he's lost one won one since then, no idea how he looked though, he will come to fight though so its a good match up regardless, Martinez should really be fighting Golovkin, but at this stage of his career can't really blame him for swerving that one

I watched his last fight, he looked good against limited opposition, was his first fight at the weight and with Roach, Martinez very inactive with injury, reckon Cotto has a decent chance.

I'd be very tempted to agree with you, seems to have aged better despite the margarito affair, after hearing you say he looked good as well, was only a 3 round ko wasn't it, might be worth a look on youtube late.

The fight I'm itching for is Lomachenko v salido, fighting for a title in his 2nd pro fight, I watch salido dominate de la cruz, hes not bad at all, its a hell of an ask, but salido is quite a come forward fighter, lomachenko could pick him off, we all know he has the talent, but its so soon in his pro career, I still think he can do it like

Salido is a tough nut, some level of opposition for his 2nd fight, from what i'v seen of him he's capable. Only just realised its on this weekend.

I thought Rios was a dangerous fight for Pac-man. It had all the makings an offensive slugfest. Pac-man just blew him away. Plus Pac-man wasn't a huge favorite either.

I think Khan could have gotten though and hit Mayweather and maybe win a round or 2. Then he would have gotten KO'd by the 6th. Probably would have been a more exciting fight. Maidana's only chance is to land one or 2 home run shots. See this going 11-12 rounds with Mayweather winning almost every one. Unless there is a tremendous undercard its defo not worth $60.

I think the only 2 fighters left that could give him a fight are GGG (who he'll never get in the ring with -- and is probably too big anyway) and Tim Bradley. Bradley is in his prime and what you would see is kind of an ugly tough to score fight. They are both top rank fighters too so it aint happening. I still think Mayweather is fighting Pac-man when both are over 40 for one last Geezers at Ceasears payday.

Funny thing about Mayweather is that any of Duran, Leonard, Chavez (super feather up to up to Light welter), Hearns, Aaron Pryor and Alexis Arguelo would have absolutely destroyed him

theres not a fighter in the history of the sport that would 'destroy; him

Then you've never seen much of the aforementioned fighters then mate tbh, the amount of top level fighters mayweather has fought who where in their prime and at their best weight division has been shockingly low, combine it with the fact that the current caliber of fighters is a huge step down to the depth in the divisions from the 40's to the early 90's, a good example can be seen in the fact someone like Hatton won titles and had a fair few defences of those when in comparison Colin Jones was a much better fighter

I've seen plenty, the depth have thinned in boxing I'll give you that, but Mayweather would be competitive against any fighter that has fought from super feather to welter, to suggest otherwise suggests a hatred of the man himself, rather than looking at his skillset
