Boxing

I've seen plenty, the depth have thinned in boxing I'll give you that, but Mayweather would be competitive against any fighter that has fought from super feather to welter, to suggest otherwise suggests a hatred of the man himself, rather than looking at his skillset

I wouldn't argue the fact i dislike him mate, but on the other hand i am able to push that aside in analyzing a boxer as theirs a fair few over the years I've disliked, Hamed, Tyson, Camacho, Whittaker, and a whole list of others besides those quite famous ones for a variety of reasons from style to personality, lifestyle etc

Whilst Mayweather has some very good things going for him, not least of which is very good reflexes, unorthodox guard (which is very whittaker in origin tbh), good speed and a decent chin/power, the oft used 'ring generalship' etc, however and this is something he's always lacked is workrate, he's very much a in bursts fighter - much like Leonard after his Hagler comeback, his level of competition has never really been that great so some other intangibles haven't been tested as much, things like grit, resilience, second wind etc, something all the great fighters had in spades (and something when for example Roy Jones and Felix Trinidad had theirs tested they kinda failed on).

Im not saying the like of Mancini, Camacho, Tony Lopez, Starling, McCrory etc would have beaten him, who all incidentally are very very good fighters in the own right, what i do believe without letting personal feelings about Mayweather come into it, is that the guys i listed earlier all would have been far too powerful overall and would have forced him into having to fight at a level he has never had to before in order to live with them, and im sure he wouldnt have been able to raise his game enough to not get overwhelmed.

a welter Leonard would have really outclassed him same with a lightweight Duran, of that i'm certain, which in itself is no insult to Mayweather as they are arguable to two finest fighters of all time at those great divisons

Mayweather is all wrong for Duran, I think he outboxes him all night long, out of your your list the one I thought would beat floyd was leonard, hearns could go either way depending on how Floyd adapts to hearns physical attributes, thats without even bringing the other sugar ray into it, the main point I was making, is to say all these fighters would destroy him is far too strong a term, judging era's is completley subjective and there is no right or wrong answer, but floyd gives any fighter in any era something to think about.

Been absent a few days hence the slow response reminiscent of a British heavyweight after getting caught by any meaningful punch mate ;p

As for Duran, i agree that the post Lenoard first fight Duran gets completely outboxed vs Mayweather and loses a wide decision, however the Duran of his prime 22-29 at his lightweight days and even his first year or so at welter had far too much intensity for mayweather, nobody outboxed Duran during that time-frame, simply put he made his opponents fight his fight time and time again, and a list of very good fighters who where unable to keep him off them can attest to that
The one exception being DeJesus in a none title match when Duran came in woefully unprepared and lost to him for his first career loss, when they rematched for a title tough and Duran came into the fight in actual shape he won every round of a 15 rounder besides the one where he had a flash knockdown before stopping him in brutal fashion, the rubber match was even more emphatic and he absolutely destroyed him in it. a strange thing about Duran is his actual boxing skills where vastly underated, even in the no mas fight on points vs a leonard who effectively fought very defensive the fight was even, his technical level was why even whilst carrying several stone extra and aging he ws able to still compete as a solid level well into his thirties

Leonard on the other hand at Welterweight was untouchable, much as i actual dislike his persona - especially so at the time he was active, the guy beat a host of undeniable great fighters, Benetiz, Hearns, Duran, the fighters a step down who would have been champions in the current era he absolutely outclassed, strange though it seems to say it, one thing about Leonard that was greatly underated was his punching power, a brief look over his fights shows time and time again that behind the flashy style was a genuine big puncher, best example of it probably can be seen in the Dave boy Green KO, but a interseting view on how he would have handled mayweather can be seen in his fight against mayweathers father Floyd senior, who Floyd has actually inhereted his style from, he swarmed him, the sideways chin behind shoulder defence just couldn't work against the pressure and volume that leanard threw and ultimately it became one sided.

Hearns is a strange one, I can envisage two scenarios in this, one is Hearns catches him early and its lights out, something he did to a lot of good fighters, however i think the more likely scenario would have been hearns getting behind his jab like he did vs benitez and winning a wide decision as mayweather was unable to put the pressure needed to stay close in the fight and without the one shot power to knock him out, until Hagler Hearns chin had never really been regarded as a weak point, and he had been in with some big hitters up to then as well

Sounds like i'm bashing mayweather but the three fighters highlighted here i think would have done similar to most if not all fighters post 90's, including some foghters who personally i was massive fans of (Meldrick Taylor, Chavez etc)

Yep I'd pay good money for that, I think Haye would of embarrassed him.

Yeah I don't think he'd stand a chance with Haye, I pray Chisora lands one massive shot on Fury and does enough damage so that I don't have to listen to the bollocks that Fury will inevitably talk post fight.
