Boxing

I thought he'd done enough to beat Cleverley, so do the commentators if I remember correctly, and so, I think, did Cleverly who refused to entertain the idea of a rematch, even though it was a brilliant and pretty even fight, knowing perhaps, he might well lose with different judges.

Hope Bellew gets another crack at him.

I went and thought he'd maybe done enough (obviously I'm biased ) but it was one of those fights were you could maybe make an argument either way but the scores of two of the judges were miles off for me.

I dont think they will but It'd be interesting if they had a rematch because I think tony looks a better fighter now whereas cleverly looks at best about the same .

I hate ppv boxing, so much money for so little end product. Sky, like them or loathe them, are very good with the boxing coverage, and in showing British boxing especially

I used to be really into it when I was younger. Seemed to be more characters in it in the past.

I might be wrong. Find it hard to follow all the different titles these days.

It does seem at times that there's too many titles on offer. I tend to swerve heavyweight boxing because the Kiltschko brothers have strangled any sort of competition and it's all very boring now. Back when Lennox Lewis and Tyson and Holyfield were fighting, the fights were a lot more open and entertaining to watch.

These days, I much prefer watching people like Froch and Bellew as you'll always get an open fight with plenty of punches thrown and much less hugging and defensive tactics.

Agree with this mate, I thought Bellew had it by one round but wasn't surprised when two judges had cleverly up. one judge was way out. bellew and cleverly seem to be going in different directions, Bellew wants a crack at a world title where as Nathan seems to be happy facing fighters just below world class in meaningless defences. I watched cleverly a few times in his early days and thought he had loads or raw talent, I'm a bit disappointed how his career is panning out. He really need to drop his dad and move to a gym where they can turn his natural ability into skilled boxing before its to late.

Seriously respect your opinion sheeds, especially on boxing, but i felt clevs fitness and chin saw him nick the fight, i expeccted bellew to start strong but his own fitness really impressed me, especially if you belive the rumours about him killing himself to make the weight. Like you though i would say bellew is the fighter who has developed and moved forward, while cleverly needs to leave his dad and more importantly leave the sinking warren ship

Looking forward to watching the Boxing tonight? Is it sold out at the venue? If not might try nip up after the match and get a ticket.

Looking forward to the Matthews/Crolla rematch...should be a cracker. who else is on the under-card?

I really like Tony Bellew as a fighter, even if he wasn't a blue think I'd enjoy watching him. Hope he can beat Chilemba tonight who is a very good fighter. So the winner of this gets a fight against boring Dawson? Gonna be a tough fight for Bellew tonight but hope he can get the job done and have a crack at a world title fight again.

If I'm being totally honest sat there I was cheering for tony but said to my mate that he'd probably just fell short, although I was biasedly leaning towards Bellew, given that Cleverly was the champ as well. The point I was making really was (which is sought of borne out by the thread) is you could make an argument for either one but the scoring was miles out , it wasnt a cleverly win by 3 rounds that's for sure.

In the cold light of day before the fight I thought cleverly would take it and I actually didn't want bellew to take a rematch if one had been offered immediately because I thought cleverly wouldn't turn in a performance of a similar quality. I wrongly thought he'd step up post fight and improve but as we can all see bellew is the one who has improved. If they fought tomorrow I'd be thinking tony would have the quality to see him off, it's another example of poor management/training/promoting for cleverly because he should have been better by now.

Oh no doubt, one or two rounds in it at best, when cleverly left enzo i thought he might stop trying to be joe calzaghe and box to his strengths, but it just hasnt happened has it, he doesnt seem to realise the danger his career is in as everyone else leaves boxnation, and as harry pointed out his dad doesnt have the background to change, he would have been a perfect fit for the late emmanuel steward. Tony on the other hand seems to know excatly where he is in his career an what he has to do

Tom stalker aswell #scouse

Jazza dickens as well for the English title, the lad who turned pro before the games from that knockout scousers pre-Olympic tv special, he's got a brilliant backstory and that show is worth watching just for him . I think he might be a family friend of someone on here , littlejoe maybe ? It's a very local based undercard with some promising fights. The place would you'd think Be bouncing
