Boxing

I dont really think froch is all that in terms of being an all time great, hes a very very tough fella, and has decent but not great ability with it, he can be outboxed, see ward, taylor, and dirrel. Whether groves has the experience or ability to do that to a top level operator remains to be seen, an interesting fight all the same, and credit to froch for taking it

Very interesting to hear Froch tell Groves on sky today to come and give the fans a fight, with Groves quite rightly responding with asking him so early to fight a certain way.

Froch would love a tear up, and easily win if it happened. Can't see Groves or Adam Booth planning on fighting him like that.

I agree, booth rarely tells his fighters to fight on the front foot, not that groves has to gp backwards all night, he has to establish some control with his jab, frustrate carl and then punish him with counters, easier said than done like

Fight confirmed now, hope they stick with November 23rd as the date, Pacquiao v Rios in the afternoon, Froch v Groves in the evening plus the small matter of the merseyside derby too. Would make for a cracking sporting weekend.

Tony Bellew gets another shot at the world title against either Stevenson or cloud

Wonder should he line up a tune up fight while there keeping busy or is it too much of a risk to take?

Would love to see him win it, but I just cant, reckon it will be Stevenson.

Anthony Joshua joins the pro ranks too.

...have to say I haven't been able to get into boxing since there were so many divisions and versions. When I was growing up In the 60s there was one world champion for each weight, pure and simple. Now Britons come on telly announced as of champions of the world who I've never heard of.

After that cut that kept him out nearly a year I think he will wait, though a tune up might do him good like you say, I'd also fancy it to be Stevenson, not the greatest technician in the world but he can really bang, good luck to Tony though, will be a good night.

Any news on whos training Joshua, I know he has signed with Eddie Hearn, to be a world silver medallist and Olympic gold medallist after walking into a gym only four years ago is a bit special, seems a well adjusted kid too

Only caught a glimpse of the Joshua interview he said everything is in place, trainer, dietician etc. I caught no names though.

Tony was also on earlier, you had it right, no tune up fight.

Lomachenko turning pro as well, could well turn out to be one of the greatest fighters in our lifetimes, sublime talent

Was watching a bit on this guy on sky couple of months back, looks a class act, its same guy with just the one defeat which he avenged ?

Probably just record the Barker Geale fight and watch it sunday morning. Was hoping to see a bit more of Geale in the ringside special but the hour was spent on Barker, don't know much about Geale tbh but with the likes of Golovkin the other champion at this weight Barker will probably never get a better chance to become a world champion.

Pretty sure it is tipp, I don't like making bold statements for fear of vaulting, but this guy is unbelievably talented, world champ in 15 fights at the most and a future ATG if he adapts to the pros
