Boxing

I read somewhere today that Floyd Sr wants Khan next, surely if, and I think when Alexander wins their bout then that won't happen although big incentive now for Khan to win that fight.

Its just hard to pick Floyds next 4 opponents who can make the fights marketable from a financial point, looking back on how successful the Hatton fight was is probably the main reason for targeting Khan.

Was impressed with Garcia last night, surprised by that result although Matthysse's eye injury done him no favours.

Can't agree with ye regards Hatton-Pacquiao, it can easily be forgotten given his few poor showings since just how good Manny was at the time.

I think half the problem is that he's fought everybody out there worth their salt. Now he's fighting guys who are just before or just past their best. That means he's never getting a real challenge.

He's got no choice in a way as TV and sponsors need opponents and he needs them to be credible. If Alvarez had another 5-6 top level fights under his belt that might have been different. Same for a few of Mayweathers last 6 or 7 fights.

About Hatton. I still don't think he'd have beaten Manny. Just that he would have put on a much better show, and gave himself a better chance of the win, if he hadn't tried to change everything he knew in a short space of time.

After last nights win Garcia could come into the mix, but again it would be a complete mis-match, and hard to sell to the public, although Garcias father could help hype the fight with his general madness.

Then theres possibly Alexander, if he beats Khan, but that fight would also be very hard to sell, and again be a mis-match, the more you think about it its easy to see why Floyds camp would want Khan, it would make $$$.

The most money of course would come from a Pacquiao fight, but Mayweather stated only recently that that fight has gone, so that looks a non goer.

CJ Ross has defended the decision to score that fight a draw, couple that with scoring the Pacquiao fight for Bradley, surely she shouldn't be left next nor a ring to judge a fight again.

reports coming out that Groves has split with Booth, couple of months before the biggest fight of his life, he's needs to get something sorted sharpish if thats the case, he could also do with getting some decent clobber after turning up to another press conference in his dads suit

That rarely a good sign. I've never rated Booth though.

he does seem to only have one style, which suits haye, on the back foot, potshotting. But it did allow Groves to protect his chin more. like you say not normally a good sign so close to a fight, maybe Groves wants to be top dog in a gym, and feels Booth spends too much time with Haye

I'm not certain he's helped Groves. His boxing hasn't really come on too much over the past few years as much as I thought he would anyway. He's a poor matchmaker too.

Probably what you suggest why he's legged it. He could do worse than go with Calzaghe IMO.

I actually think the man in the oppositie corner rob mckracken would be good for him, obviously that wont happen, maybe if Jimmy Tibbs were a bit younger, what with the London connections. Always thought Enzo, though clearly a good motivator fitness wise, wasnt a great tactician, thought everybody should fight like Joe, which given he one of the most beautifully balanced boxers weve ever produced, is impossible for lesser talents, who end up wasting the attributes they do have

The reason I suggest him is I think he'll have to fight like Joe to win this. Groves won't knock him out IMO so he'll need to pick rounds up by getting in Frochs face and looking like he's scoring while avoiding getting hit himself. Froch has deffo got enough to take him out.

If he can do that for 5 or 6 rounds at the start he could be in a really good position and have Froch scrambling late for the KO.

its a decent plan to be fair, but JC had the chin and an incredible work rate to pull him through, think Groves will have to be more hit and run than that, if he wants to engage on the inside it could be a long night for him, or a short one. Either way it wont end well
