Boxing

Will anyone be getting the Haye-Fury fight? Haye has put me off from ever paying for a fight with his piss poor title efforts but Sky are doing their usual excellent job at hyping this one.

Think Fury at 11-4 looks very generous.

He's only lost to the best. He can hold his head up regardless, but I wouldn't put him up there with Calazaghe or anyone of that stature.

I don't think that means anything to most boxers these days. If he wanted to avoid Groves and get a bigger fight he probably could have. Maybe even a Ward rematch.

I personally think his cv is better than jc's. He has travelled across the pond and taken on the best in his division.

He's dodged no one. And to be fair to him he's fought everyone out there.

But, Calzaghe fought at two weights and won belts, beat unbeaten fighters and outclassed fella's like Kessler. Calzaghe's own CV has got greats on there who dodged him almost their whole careers. I think JC would be recognized as one of the very, very best ever had he not be consistently dodged and shook frank warren off sooner.

I have nothing against jc and enjoyed some of his fights but some would argue the opposite abut dodging. Most of his big name victories were against aging fighters and I think he played it a little safe with the wbo belt. It would be interesting if we could get both records up and discuss them. Unfortunately my computer skills just about lets me reply.

I'll have a go now.

Just out of interest, he won the vacant ibf title against lacey and defended against bika (I was at that fight, bloody awful) what happened then, it doesn't show on his next title fight.

Good to see JC's record there. Obv a world class fighter and one of our best, but definitely coasted through his mid-career there. Not that it would have been easy to make more meaningful fights, it would have taken determined matchmaking from people that he prob didn't have around him. But a bit of a soft resume as a result 2000-2006. Didn't he have a rough divorce during that time as well? Remember him saying it affected him badly.

Hope Haye smashes Fury but think it'll go to points and it really could go either way. They'll both be knackered after 12 rounds and whoever copes with it the best will likely take the win.
