Boxing

Good to see JC's record there. Obv a world class fighter and one of our best, but definitely coasted through his mid-career there. Not that it would have been easy to make more meaningful fights, it would have taken determined matchmaking from people that he prob didn't have around him. But a bit of a soft resume as a result 2000-2006. Didn't he have a rough divorce during that time as well? Remember him saying it affected him badly.

There's a few good fighters on there in that period. Brewer, Veit, Bika, Ashira had mixed in decent company.

That was around the time his hands went south fairly quickly and he was still with Frank Warren, who was quite happy putting domestic fights on earning money. He done the same to Hatton who had a nightmare shaking him off.

Joe was dodged by a lot. In his book he talks about fights they tried to make and mandatory defences people avoided, Jones especially. I really, really rate Jones but looking back I'm edging towards JC doing him.

Hope Haye smashes Fury but think it'll go to points and it really could go either way. They'll both be knackered after 12 rounds and whoever copes with it the best will likely take the win.

Haye will destroy Fury imo, he'll open him up & smash his glass chin to pieces.

I'm going to have a wedge on that fight not going the distance.

I was thinking the same but as the fight gets closer, for some reason i am starting to think tyson may have a chance if he drags him into the late rounds. tysons chin isn't glass he has been hit with heavy punches on his chin that would have put anyone down. He has got up and won every time.

He's got a punchers chance & nothing more imo. He's worked hard at his game in the last 18 months, but let's be right, he's a pikey bare knuckle fighter who's been schooled. Haye is in a totally different league to him & he'll take him to pieces mate.

If Fury can use his jab properly and keep him off he's got a chance as he can hit, hard. He'll need to come in about five times fitter than he ever has though. I can't see it myself.

Haye's too quick and hits too hard.

You would think so but if fury can make it into a scrappy fight and tie haye up, use his size and weight to lean on him maybe haye may start blowing towards the end of the fight. of course fury has to stay out of the way of hayes right hand which is easier said than done.

I know it will be difficult for Fury but he will have a 5 inch height and 2.7 stone weight advantage.

I don't think he's got the intelligence to fight the fight he'd have to, in order to stand a realistic chance of defeating him, with anything other than a fortuitous haymaker (no pun intended).

I think Haye will get under his skin & he'll come out overly pumped & swinging, which will play straight into Haye's hands & he'll dismantle him - quickly. I doubt this will go beyond 3 or 4 myself.

What did Valuev have? I know what you're saying. Tying him up and trying to wear him out is a tough ask. You need a sympathetic ref to get away with it too. Intriguing fight. For me Haye is several levels above.

I hope its nothing like the Valuev fight, i don't think i could watch another 12 rounds of that. That fight was as bad as the fights between williams, sprott and Skelton.

I thought that fight was brilliant myself. It was a boxing master class from Haye that night, in an away fixture to boot.

That's why I was so disappointed in him when he was so awful against Klitschko

Bad times them. Me mate used to say this is two doormen knockin fcuk out of each other, nothing more to it. He was right too.

I couldn't believe Price went from fighting Skelton to fighting Thompson in such a short space of time. He needs to have a look at his matchmaker there IMO.

I dont know about that mate, i would say a tactical masterclass by booth to deal with someone that big but there was no more than half a dozen punches being thrown a round. as a spectator it was very boring. to me anyway.

Maybe I used the wrong word there, enthralling was probably more appropriate, as it was a genuine David vs Goliath battle, tactically perfect from Haye (& Booth). I can still see that shot from Haye that nearly put him down & that broke his hand in the process
