A whole bunch of mushrooms have appeared overnight. After consulting my Big Boy's Book of Mushrooms they appear to be field mushrooms ; remembered however a Midsomer Murder's episode where somebody died an excruciating death after eating a poisonous one so I think I'll pass.

That reminds me of a brilliant cartoon I once saw in Private Eye. It was a private dinner and a guest asked the host about the mushrooms. The host said that they were wild mushrooms and the guest asked how they identify wild mushrooms. The host said 'we looked on Wikipedia'. The expression on the faces of the guests made the cartoon.
