You said he didn't play him. Don't turn it back on me just because your WEB OF LIES has been decimated by a quick look on soccerbase...

If you think about it, only the Hamburglar has chosen to play him out of anything other than necessity. Even Large Samuel jettisoned him the second Baines was fit.

Indeed, and Koeman would have played Coleman if he was fit.

We are not talking about that though are we? He is obviously at the absolute best a squad player here. We are talking about if he is better than Galloway. It was like when Garbutt was not in the squad and people were saying that "he must be better than Martina". Well he is obviously not!

I’m sorry but I’m not trusting Ronald Koeman’s opinion on anything. I’m pretty certain Galloway would have done no worse than Martina in the games he played last season. Not saying Galloway is good enough for this level either by the way.

I didn't say you should trust his opinion! He would have played Coleman though of course he would.

Well who knows if Galloway would have done no worse? I can only base it off what we have seen in the past couple of seasons. Martina has played fairly often in the top flight at a level ranging from poor to average, for two fairly decent sides playing a fair amount of that time in a position that is not his.

Galloway on the other hand has been jibbed off from West Brom under a defensive manager and then couldn't get a game for a team who have just plummeted down two divisions at an alarming rate.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle to be honest. They are probably both Championship players realistically.

I think if the club could get a modest fee for Galloway and Browning they both will go this summer. Browning the more likely of the two as he actually played a good number of games last season with sunderland.

Darron Gibson was a good player, just had his "issues".

I don't care about any of that anyway, he would get a game at Sunderland in League One, of course he would, that's all I am saying.

He is a right back anyway...

I thought Galloway did well for us when he played and thought he had a bright future. I also thought that about Garbutt and indeed plenty of other young lads who have played for us. Past doesn't really matter though, in his present guise Galloway is rubbish. Hopefully someone can get him back to playing well.

Thats fair enough mate. It seemed Galloway didn't get a game because of his lack of experience really, and they went through managers, Martina could have also have struggled in that context and got lost.

The points you make are right though. Galloway has a lot of work to show Silva he can be part of his plans. In many ways this summer is a real break for him, we haven't signed anyone yet and finances might mean we only bring lads in much later or maybe not at all. He has a chance to make an impression in both training and some games.

I didn't think Galloway was good enough 3 years ago when he played. I thought he made too many mistakes, wasn't physical enough and didn't
the game well enough. However he has grown a lot physically in the last 3 years and that always gives footballers a chance. He also had some qualities even then, he got forward well, was quick and worked hard. Lets see, he probably leaves but given the austerity that seems to exist you can't rule him out.

Him, Browning and Feeney played last night so if we’re forced to stick any of them on the bench today it better be Feeney.

.. I didn’t realise Feeney played (I’ll read the Youth teams thread now), but I totally agree. Saying that, it’s hard to see any who played last night being involved. Good to see Feeney back, I suspect that will have supported the decision to let Pennington go at this point.
