With Funes Mori able to step in over there and Oviedo still capable of making a comeback Baines is going to have to show his worth for us from now on by rolling back the years a bit to some of his best displays. I've always thought that, as good as he is going forward, we always suffered defensively with him. He's not a terrible defender by any means. But he could get caught up the pitch.
Yeah he has always been one of those problem players for me like Cahill that i wouldn't leave out because you love them being there and they can turn games round, but it does leave you with gaps. Be good for him to know he doesn't just step back in. BaInes back on fire for second half of season would be nice to see. I'd still be looking to get Galloway into the team somewhere even though he is lacking in experience

I think Martinez would like to give a back 3 a proper long term run at some point and I think Galloway as the left side of that 3 is what he sees as a real viable option.

I was unconvinced by Galloway at the back end of last season, as to whether I saw a long term future at the top there for him. That's changed this season. He's looked so comfortable. I honestly believe had he not gone off injured, we would have held on to a 0-0 against City.

All this said, what Baines offers us going forward/from set pieces/as a general attacking outlet, I think against the vast majority of teams we need to pick the stronger attacking option over the stronger defensive option.

Another very, very good display. However, I think he shows his limitations as a full back when he gets near to the oppositions box. That's not criticising Galloway, he's a CB. Or maybe I noticed it more yesterday with the lack of Coleman on the other side, I think we missed having proper full backs yesterday though.

I thought the same thing- if Coleman was playing I reckon we would have definitely have won.

Galloway did literally camp in the Swansea half in the 2nd half

With no wingers playing it highlighted the loss of baines and coleman even more, had so little width, positives though we showed we can play it through a packed box which until now has been our biggest problem

Mate brilliant though he has been the past two weeks he got the arse torn out of him against city, thats whats made these last two games all the more impressive, but dont go re writing history,

He was't brilliant but it wasn't until Browning came on at left back and Stones started coming across more to cover him that we really started to look vulnerable.

City may still have gone on to score, but the first half had a feel that Stones and Jags were holding out, but once Galloway went off we looked far more on the back foot and a City goal went from possible to probable.

How do people compare him to Stones after his first few games...

Looks to me like they are almost carbon copies of one another...
