Next season will be pushing Jags / Stones for a start at Centre back, he is brilliant.

England call within 12 months.

The shouts that it's like looking at John Stones are very good.

When Stones first came in he was a bit hesitant too. Eventually he began to hold his own, the game against Stoke away was a big turning point for him. Galloway had his against Chelsea, a match where you could see he had turned a big corner.

Just like Stones the biggest attribute I can see with Galloway is whats going in between his ears. He isn't fazed by whats happening around him, keeps very level headed and has a good appreciation of what his abilities are and how he can maximise them.

Much like with Stones I wasn't blown away with Galloway when I saw him for the reserves, but Unsworth spoke very highly of him. It's obviously the above qualities of his mentality that comes shining through when you work with him so closely, which was similar again with Stones.

I am not saying this to try and be hard on him. But at 19 he doesn't have the all-round ability of a Rooney, or even the physique of a Barkley/Rodwell when they emerged, nor the raw pace of say someone like an Owen. But I have seen enough of his mentality to know he will do very well in the game.

If you compare him to Gomez at Liverpool the mentality he has is the key difference. Gomez has a lot going for him, he is probably quicker than Galloway and also a bit taller. However he has been fazed by the big occasions and given away a number of silly fouls/penalties which have been as a result of his poor mentality. Galloway doesn't seem to make those mistakes. I think this is down to the lads calmness.

Very impressed with him in the derby. The way he stood between Sakho/Can and stopped them getting to Barkley was very brave and had a real presence about him.

As for the 50 games stuff, I think this was before Martinez has seen him this season when he was thinking of sending him out on loan to get say 30+ games. I think he has skipped that step. He will soon be at 15-20 first team appearances for us by the Baines returns. I suspect that may be enough for Martinez to consider him as a potential Centre Half.

Fantastic development of our young defenders is going on really. That we might have a back four of Browning, Stones, Galloway, Garbutt in a couple of years will be very strong, with lads like Mori also knocking on the door.

Pretty good write up on our match yesterday http://royalbluemersey.sbnation.com...cal-analysis-brendan-rodgers-roberto-martinez

I think thought it brings up a good point of the biggest drawback to having to play the youngsters in the back. While, they defend very well and put in all of the work required to get up and down the whole pitch, having Galloway and Browning on forces a lot of burden on transitioning to the attack on Jags and Barry. Browning won't be able to beat his man on the dribble and Galloway does not have the range or confidence in passing that Baines does.

If everyone is fully fit I still think they step right into their old positions. The bigger question is what to do next season. Keep them in the squad as a solid back up who you can trust or send them on loan where they will be starting a full season's games.

Has really impressed me, in all honesty I was worried him replacing Baines. I thought it was going to be way to big of a task considering our early fixtures and his lack of experience but he's been fantastic.

Really does remind me of a young Stones.

Hang about. Mate?

Great post mate. One thing I'll add though is that at aged 16 anyone who saw Wayne Rooney play knew he was one in a million. So I don't think any of our current crop of young players need to be compared to Rooney either for their sake or what he has gone into achieve.

Oh absolutely. English football could go another 50 years and it won't see a 16 year old of the quality of Rooney, he was that good.

I think by comparing Galloway to Rooney though shows just how highly I rate him. When I am evaluating him I am measuring him to the very best young players I've seen at his age.
