It makes you shake your head and wonder why we loaned him out with no cover at left back better than him????

Play the long game. A year at a club on the back foot will improve his defensive positioning ten fold.

If we saw no future for him he would have gone to Newcastle. If Baines stays fit all season Brendan would get very little game time. A big opportunity for the lad to get a year of premier league football and come back here as a first team regular.

As a defender, yes. Galloway defends better than Baines. There's no question about it.

There is a lot more to playing the role of a full back in modern day football than just defending.

I think he could do a job for us this season but I'm fine with Baines/Oviedo. With Baines fit and getting back into some form I've got no issues with Galloway going out on loan for the season if it means he can get a lot more Premier League minutes. In the long run this loan move has th potential to do both Galloway and Everton in the long run a world of good.

Baines is in the twilght of his career. Still has purpose but the wily Koeman's know full well the experience Galloway gets the better and Tony Pulis will be a asset in his development.

This ^^^^ really. Galloway will become our regular LB and he's getting some fantastic game time until he pushes Baines out. It's a win / win. Joey raises a good point about cover, but I'd rather see the lad get game time.......

Been watching, been outstanding going forward and in defence for West Bromwich. Not a shadow of bias has been their stand out player this half.

cheers mate, just heard the commentator saying he put in a belter of a cross for Rondon.

I thought he would naturally move to centre back but if that was the case I think he would have kept him plus he's been loaned out as a left back by the looks of it.
