You don't know the half of it mate.

Was looking forward to taking some scalps over the winter period but a load of other Johnny come latelys have thrown a spanner in the works.

Yes mate, I know you were brimming with confidence heading into the Brighton game?
Me?...I very rarely go into ANY Everton game with anything but trepidation. The only thing Everton ever guarantees is uncertainty and inconsistency. They are a frustratingly disappointing team.

As did Newcastle. Why do you not reckon he could make the step up and manage a team with higher aspirations?
In all honesty, I'm not actually sure but it's always been an assumption I've had, and one that seems to be fairly common with most football fans I've spoke to.

Perhaps it's a combination of the style of football he plays alongside the fact that he's quite a calm, well-mannered manager so he may not get fair recognition.

CH not showing too many histriotics could be seen as complacency, deep defence and 4-4-2 (played 4-3-3 v Everton) could be seen as dogmatic. I've a feeling that Brighton would dismiss any overtures for first team players and manager from anything other than top 6 clubs out of hand rather than token resistance. Like Watford and all EPL clubs because of the TV money.

I could be wrong of course, but I think CH is quite happy with us. The wealthy owner is local, a supporter and steady chairman. In a way, Hughton has shown ambition throughout the last 4 years as our manager by performing minor miracles in getting the club to achieve previously unfulfilled potential. It is a mutual 'love-in' which I hope and expect will continue for several years to come.... but who can tell the future.
