Good grief, just saw Oviedo's last tweet before his injury.

Which this?

Really gutted for him. Somewhat upset about not having him this season, as he can comfortably play 3 positions on the pitch, but I really feel bad for this happening before the world cup. Really hoping he recovers in time!

Always seems to happen to the good guys doesn't it.
I was thinking this yesterday... Something like this happens to a guy who buy all accounts is one of the really nice guys in football. Seems to be loved by everyone at the club, and to be just generally very very grateful to have the opportunity to play for us, and play in the Premier League.

Meanwhile you've got little rats like Suarez, Barton et al running round trying to maim people (not to mention thugs like Shawcross) and nothing ever seems to touch them.

Not wishing an injury like that on anyone (even rat face) but if it HAS to happen to someone, I'd sooner see it happen to the c***s than the nice guys.

Devastated for the lad, one glimmer of hope he has though is that he finally was able to show what he has to offer this year, if it had happened say in training in November you would have to figure that his time at the club would pass without ever getting a chance really, now at least he has had the chance to show what he brings and knows himself he has a big part to play in the future of everton after he overcomes this big hurdle.

Get well soon Bry lad, hope the boys show what you mean to them on the field the rest of the season

I've got to say, Jagielka is a tremendous human being, many people on a football field will shy away from a bad break, He takes Brian's leg in his hands and shows he's at a different level. Words fail me, but he really is a leader on the field. A great captain.

Jags is class, always has been. Moyes can be ****ged off for several things since his departure but he truly did bring several tremendous human beings to our football club over the years.

Very proud of most of our playing staff over the last 10 yrs. terrific guys and more often than not very good players.

Whilst Jags impressed me hugely for his actions with Oviedo - acting exactly like you hope to see your captain acting, the one that came out the blue was Stones, in a team of seasoned pro's and internationals - a 21 yo lad with a handful of games stayed with him the whole time, absolute kudos to the lad and as a few have said already that is a huge testament of character.

Stones has impressed me with his play already this year, but last night his stock went up ten fold for the way he acted

He's got the right stuff alright. If he learns his trade of Jags then he could the very best.

I don't think I have ever been so affected by an injury. I would never wish it on someone else instead but I must say he would be the last person this should have happened to. He's playing backup to the best leftback in the world yet through genuine effort and skill still manages to force his way into the team. He really seizes every opportunity he gets and epitomises everything that is Everton football club.
I think this episode may go down in history as a turning point for the club. It will bring the players even closer and has demonstrated what great personalities we have at the club. When Bry comes back he should become a club legend along with stones and mccarthy. The core of the team for the next ten years Is a solid as it has ever been.

........and we should smash the rs for Bry.

Had never heard of Oviedo until I started watching Everton this season and I've really come to enjoy his play...Damn shame about the injury, especially the timing of it with the WC on the horizon...Hope he makes a speedy & complete recovery

The one thing in my mind about this now the smoke is beginning to clear is how this will affect the squad. They reacted well yesterday. First rate reaction. But they'd be less than human (especially those with WC ambitions) to not be rocked by this injury. I wonder how the commitment levels will be influenced by seeing a teammate's dreams shattered so near to that tournament? Some of these players might take the view they'd rather not go in for this challenge or that one, or track back for defensive duties in the way Oviedo did last night. A natural reaction for players who, in all likelihood, aren't in line for domestic honours and so see the WC as their priority.

This is going to be a tough psychological battle for Martinez and his staff to deal with.

Gutted for the lad he was really showing us what a good player he is recently, Hopefully he'll not be too downhearted although missing yje WC must hurt him.
