Bryan Oviedo

Unfortunately I see this as being key to Garbutt staying/going.

If Brian stays then Garbutt will certainly be away to force his way into a first team somewhere else.
If Brian goes then there is a direct path into the first team here.

I think a lot might ride on what exactly the Garbutt situation is at the moment. IF he's said Garbutt's going already then there's no reason to let Brian go, if not then at least there's something new to bring to the table.

For me, if it came down to a choice and assuming Bryan is fit I would prefer to keep him rather than Garbutt.

And I would suggest that but for the horrendous injury he had last season he might already be our first choice left back.

That couple of months toward the end of 2013 he played better than Baines has in the sixteen months since, IMO.

I'm a big fan of Oviedo and Garbutt has enormous potential - overused description, that, I know - but Bryan's only 25.

I don't think Bainesy is in danger of losing his place right now and it may be hard to keep both.

Garbutt is apparently threatening to leave if he doesn't get in the 1st team, and if he does at the expense of Oviedo he'd
better produce the goods.

I'm one of those who thinks Oviedo would do OK at left-mid - remember his goal at Old Trafford - but it's up to the coaching
staff to work it all out. Let's hope they get it right.

Oviedo lit up last season till his injury and the absence of someone like him appearing out of the blue is another factor as to why we have had a duff season.

I too hope we can keep him. My spot for him is left wing as he works hard, is quite fast and has a good shot.

I think Bryan may be lacking just a touch in the ability stakes but he more than makes up for that in his energy and drive, he gets the ball and makes things happen, runs with the ball in to places that are uncomfortable for defences and things happen. We miss bry

When he took over from Baines last season he was playing so much better than Baines.
The month he played were full of tough games and he shone in everyone of them, especially the United game. He's a good player. We've got 3 superb left backs and unfortunately, one of them will be going in the Summer and it wont be Baines.

Last seen 19th Feb 2015 in Switzerland...

Remember when Martinez said he could be back in time for the WC! Such a shame he hasn't recovered still, wouldn't be surprised if he goes in the summer to keep Garbutt in the squad.

Keep him and Garbutt. Oviedo baby can play left or right, defence or midfield. It's kewl you guys. Plus he won't be on huge wages. Garbutt is da future.
