Jozy Altidore has apparently only scored 1 goal in 28 games for Hull... Unless it was for about £2M from Villareal then no. He is similar to Anichabe except Anichabe has more end product.
Bullard would have been good a few years back. But he is to old now and injury prone. He is also meant to like drinking like Van Der Meyde.
I don't think his strike rate at Hull is a fair reflection of his scoring abilities. Having watched many of their games, they were just horrendous. Jozy I believe led Hull in assists, caused havoc for defenders, earned a ridiculous amount of fouls, free kicks, penalties, etc. He still needs work, no doubt. But don't think for a second he's a 1 goal in 28 games type of player.
He led U.S. in WC Qualifying goals this cycle (more than Donovan, Dempsey, Michael Bradley...all of whom started & played the entire cycle). He wasn't involved as much in some early cupcake games (like an 8-0 Bardados thrashing, for one). Kind of like your early Liechtenstein matches. Let's also not forget he was 17/18 when he broke into the team. And he did score against a full strength Spain in the semifinal, their first loss in 2 trillion games or whatever ridiculous streak it was.

More important than his scoring at Hull, imo, was his improved touch, holdup play, passing, etc. If you've watch him this year, you can see he's made a lot of progress in areas where he NEEDED to improve. He's growing into his freakish body & developing an all around game. The scoring will come. And he's an absolute handful for defenders, keeping them on their heels, drawing fouls, & opening space for others. But he's not JUST a holdup type. He's much quicker than typical target strikers & has some 1v1 ability. As a matter of fact, he may be best as a 2nd striker playing off a target.
Don't think this kid won't come good. He will. Do I think he's the right guy for Everton right now? No. He's no Saha or Yak, that's for sure. Vic? I actually like the guy, but in 2 years (Vic's age) if Jozy hasn't surpassed Vic's current level, count me as one who'd be surprised. And, if Vic & Vaughan (or even 1 of them) were to leave this summer, you could do a lot worse for backup strikers. Jozy wants to stay in the Premier League & will be keen to find another loan deal, this time w/ a better team. If you could secure a similar loan w/ option to buy from Villarreal, could be good business. I think the option was at 5/6 mil? Not saying he'll ever reach his full potential, but if he does, he'll be worth a lot more than that. And what would you have to lose? Let's be honest, freebies/loans are going to play a big role in Davey's dealings. Then again, add Beckford into the mix & (barring injury) I think there siimply won't be enough room for him. And right now he needs playing time to develop.
I think he'll either return to Villarreal, or find another loan w/ a lower level EPL team. But eventually he could be a great pickup. Remember, he was on the field for Landon's farewell game where LD scored & Jack picked him up to chants of USA USA!! And the US team is a very close group, unlike other national teams. These guys stick together & rely on each other overseas. The fact that Moyes & the club in general are so highly regarded within U.S. circles - or in circles everywhere, for that matter - can only bode well for the future.
Keep an eye on this one though.
