We can't really get annoyed with west ham, once a price is agreed then other teams that want him are free to match it. If he doesn't sign it's either our fault because we dithered around for ages (as usual), or he decided to have a word with them and they offer better terms/life in London etc.

The absolute scenes if Byram does indeed sign for us and then Yarmolenko signs for West Ham....

London24Sport understands West Ham are set to sign Sam Byram from Leeds United on Tuesday for around £3.5million plus add-ons.

"The impressive right sided winger was in talks with Everton over the weekend but trained with Leeds on Monday and spoke to West Ham co-owner David Sullivan on Sunday.

Byram has family in Essex and south east London and favoured the switch back down south over a move to Merseyside. Having come through the ranks at Leeds,

Byram has become a vital player in their side, featuring at either right back or in midfield. However, the 22-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has turned down an offer from Leeds to extend, leaving a switch to the Premier League a certainty.

West Ham have been struggling for a right back, with James Tomkins filling in this season due to Carl Jenkinson’s poor form. Jenkinson is no longer a permanent option due to his wage increase at Arsenal and so Byram is seen as the long term option, with his midfield form also worth noting. Byram should be announced and ready to play before West Ham face Manchester City on Saturday evening".

Edit Byram was born in Thurrock, Essex.
