Can Ireland beat France?

just cos keane isn't the captain of ushoited any more, doesn't make me stop hating him. over-rated thug who surfed the wave of fergie spit to get away with allsorts, he must've been a right 'teachers pet' at o.t. cos s.a.f. wouldn't put up with his weird cranky ways.
he's sensing revenge on the f.a.i. and it seems certain people, he see's that they are down and he's gonna wipe his boots on them, he'll be shoehorning mick mccarthy into it soon.

This.

He's twisted beyond belief. Oh, and a [Poor language removed] manager.

Nar your not bitter, your nothing like Roy Keane, your just angry, hes angry and bitter. Your angry cos nobody listens and dissmisses what you consider to be excellent viewpoints, that are normally frowned upon cos they dont conform to societys ideals.

Hes just angry cos his bird fckus his dog.

Maybe I am the same. He calls it as it is. Ireland failed to take their chances, Ireland have players who are just not good enough to go to the world cup. Neither have New Zealand but that's another story.

Thats simply not true mate, you have to earn the right, thats the thing about football - France probably have better players but for me didnt earn their place - they got a leg up at every oppurtunity were other nations or should i say markets were marginlised.

Take the Euros when England didnt qualify - Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney etc were probably better players then anything Poland, Greece or Romania had to offer yet didnt qualify - fortunatley for us smaller nations (markets) football aint played on paper - to say we were beaten by any type of amazing footballing ability France had to offer is quite simply wrong.

Come on New Zealand!

Yes but as Keane said, you didnt take your chance. It was there on a plate, but your failed to clear a simple ball and missed some good chances. Thats all Keane is saying really and hes right.

I agree with him we should have taken our chances and we have to look at ourselves first. Not to mention players like the two Reids, Carsley, Finnan and Ireland who should be in the squad. There has to be analysis because things could definitely be improved on.

Hes right to sometimes its a mentality thing with the modern Irish team of fear of taking the next step not all but with some of the players.

Fact being though, France no more deserved to qualify then us - scoring a deflected goal and then an offside one with two blatent handballs after getting a leg up from Fifa in seeding for the playoffs with a game to go in the group stages - its a farce really.

Some nations were nailed by Fifa before a ball was kicked, so to loose by cheating just rubs salt into the wounds. Some nations (markets) were favoured while others had huge obsticals thrust upon them.

Teams are seeded all the time, its not like they just made the rules up, well they kinda did, but its something that always goes on.

I agree, France do not deserve that place anymore than Ireland, but over 2 matches, they scored more goals, thats the nature of football.

In fact they did mate they annonced the seeding in the last week of qualifying games. Intresting that France and Germany were touch and go then - Mr Platini and Blatter!

Fair play to Slovenia beating Russia - Do one Sep!

Its tough mate, will take you a long, long time to get over it all. Took me nearly 5 years to get over the 86 World Cup, I couldnt believe something like that could happen.

Aye mate, the whole system is defunct really - it favours the biggest markets so its all tainted for me to be honest. I was more annoyed about the seeding thing then i am about the handball. It stinks really fair enough if it was annonced before the groups start but to introduce it at the end of qualifying just stinks.

Dropped over a grand in Paris this week and had another two paid out to Fifa already for World cup tickets - you ask yourslef whats the point with the cheating that Fifa engage in to get the bigger nations (markets) into tournaments.

neiler i see what you are saying about the markets, but there were well more irish supporters at the 2002 world cup than french.

i watched france v uruguay in busan and their support was pathetic. the irish took over suwon when they played spain.

Duff, Keane, O'Shea & Doyle were in excellent positions to score goals, they failed. Lack of ability? Lack of confidence at this level? Maybe.

New Zealand are there as a representative of the federation that they belong to, it isn't a competition based on world rankings. The game can only expand in these places by exposure to the big teams on the biggest stage, i'm sure they had the same said the last time they qualified as well, and i bet a lot were from north of our border that got their noses rubbed in it like a dirty little puppy. n.z. have played well in confederations cup tournaments of late, got beaten but played well and had a fair share of bad luck.
