Can We Succeed Next Season Without Breaking FFP?

If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got. Time has come to look beyond the next season. We need to develop a young, fit, hungry squad. Give the likes of Nkounkou, Simms, Gordon etc. a chance and make more signings of the Godfrey type.

We are a million miles of the quality of the top 6, squad wise, and it is something we will not fix by signing older players on their way down, we need hunger right through the squad.

I think James is a fabulous footballer and I love the fact that he is playing for us, but, players of his profile should be the exception rather than the rule here. We really should not be signing any more former super stars on the way down. We need to develop a core of steel and a will to win.

Powerful, quick under 25’s with a winner’s attitude should be the order of the day from now on. Next season, ideally, should be one when we can see the profile of our squad beginning to evolve.

That is not how we will go about it. We have a billionaire owner and a manager who is used to squads of experienced international players. We will buy more players for the first team, and maybe 1 or 2 like Godfrey.

I didn’t say it’s how we will go about it, I said it’s how we should go about it.
Hopefully once we've established ourselves over the next couple of years, we can look to bring in young players and bring them through, but we aren't at that stage yet.
