Our last 3 matches against Bournemouth have now resulted in a 4-1 defeat and two 3-1 defeats in season 19/20. That's mighty Bournemouth ,who always thrash us.

This doesn't wash I'm afraid. Bournemouth made countless changes as does every team in this competition. We have some abysmal players in our squad.
I think it does wash. The whole team was back to the nervous setup from last season. No confidence in the centre backs breeds lack of confidence all over the pitch. We've let four on tonight and it could have been more. Even at our worst this season no team has looked like taking us apart like that. There are certain players that should never wear the blue shirt again and the fact you say that Bournemouth also made changes makes it even worse.

After years of playing 2nd choice teams and getting knocked out, Everton's brainwave to finally go on in this competition is to play another 2nd choice line up. F*** off Everton

this is the problem and has been for years. however we somehow add to it every season. I didn't need any pro badge to tell me mc neil and maupay will never be good premiership players yet we bring them in to add to the utter crap that's already here.

The realism. This is not just a bad defeat. A league cup exit with a whimper. We've had plenty of them. This was an absolute cataclysm. It
was the realism of where we are as a club. For me it is anyway! Trying to beat the mightly Bournemouth with our second string. Bunch of deadwood.
Probably to save the best for Saturday. We haven't won a trophy for nearly 30 years man!

I can’t stand that the fans will get called negative. I’m not expecting to win the league or even get champions league spot. I’m asking for fight and effort. This has been awful for years. Just nothing, nothing to enjoy about this club apart from the fans. But we should be positive…

How many chances did we make against a reserve Bournemouth side? We just never look like scoring. So predictable in our play.

This is embarrassing but let’s be real here. This team was not winning the carabao cup. He left players out that we NEED on Saturday because that game is massive. This game proves that if coady or tarks go down we are In serious trouble. We lose on Saturday and that is a long time to be waiting for a win.

Best case this shows that Mina and keane are healthy and they can F off in January
If he isn’t bothered about the cup then at least give a chance to mills / cannon etc. plonking the same old crap into a three centre back system with a disjointed midfield 3 was awful. Might as well have told the fans not to bother.

That Bournemouth would be in a relegation fight in the championship!. Yet they put 4 past us. Yes 11 changes but still it’s just pathetic from the manager the coaching team and the players.

And to be realistic are we going to win on Saturday?!?! Now all those rested players, who a lot came off the bench and got spanked…will be in a terrible place mentally for Saturday

The scoreline is inevitably going to increase at least the perception of pressure on Frank, but look at their goals: 1) a lucky deflection off both a defender and the underside of the bar, 2) Holgate randomly slips, 3) counter attack when we're pressing for the equalizer, 4) Patterson gets his pocket picked. What is he supposed to do about any of that (at least 3 of the 4)? That's just a combination of bad luck and two horrific moments by individual players.

I mean, the only real thing you could argue with here I think is the decision to play a reserve squad in the first place, but everybody else is also going to do that at this stage of the season in this "less important" competition. I would have liked to see the U21 guys get a longer run out than they did, but other than that, he can only play the players he's been given. He can't make them not fall down, not dwell on the ball for ages when they're the last man back, not miss an easy one-on-one with the goalkeeper. That's just crap players being crap.

For me, this just reinforces that we still have a long way to go in turning over the squad, unfortunately.
