That's reality.

You can call something out as lacking sincerity. Doing that can often be for the greater good.

Too many businesses should either do something genuine and lasting, or pack it in because pretending can do more harm.
Why do we always have to put a label on something? Why can't people just embrace it and say yeah awesome, for a day I'm going to try a plant based burger instead of the usual negative same old boring reaction to anything that's different.

It's not labelling anything it's just calling out BS.

There's a lot of moaning nowadays for moaning sake. As there are moaning at moaners moaning.

But for me - sincere efforts should be applauded and tokenism called out for what it is when it's just PR.

I mean, I drive a diesel land rover. Sure, I could ride a bike for one day but I wouldn't look for plaudits for it - especially when I wouldn't hesitate to then go and buy a bigger more polluting car.

It's a big thing for a top premier league club to do this in a big fixture. I think it's great personally. I also can't stand the term 'virtue signalling'.

*cough* corporate greenwashing *cough*

Exactly what it is. 'Wokewashing' is the new term, where they rely on useful idiots thinking its a good thing.

Oh for Christ's sake, another stupid word to roll my eyes at when it is used for 'literally' every time a company or an individual does something (n)

Both businesses, both same tactics.

There's no business on this planet that wilfully does something green at the expense of profit. Not a single one. They aren't your friends.
It's not really the same. But sure, I'm not saying it's altruistic on Spurs; part.

I love how you think that people not having a go at 2 football clubs for going 100% green, even for one day, is because they are sat there hoping that they will become best of friends.

It is not about businesses being friends, it is about not crying 'virtue signaling' at EVERY opportunity.

Yes there is.

Forest Green for one.

See the sponsors on the shirt?

That's Ecotricity, a business ran by the clubs owner, a business that makes profit from 'green' energy.

Forest Green are ran the way they are as a marketing stunt, basically a walking advertising board for the owners business. It is done purely, 100% for profit.

I repeat - there's not a single business on this planet that puts morals over profit. If those morals impact profit, they're binned. That's the real world.

Are you suggesting they would make less money if they weren't ran as an eco-friendly club?

People will say it at 'every opportunity' because it always IS that. Don't get annoyed at people calling out corporate bollocks; get annoyed at the businesses pretending to give a toss about anything but their margins, as they belittle the causes they piggyback on to create a cheap PR win.
