Are Champions League / title winning managers any good at fighting relegation?

I don’t know. There’s not much data on that.

Benitez couldn’t keep Newcastle up
Klopp took Mainz down.
Ranieri basically took Atletico down
Even my mate Pellegrini took Universidad de Chile down.

Seems managers who coach at the top, rarely venture into those depths, but when they do, the results aren’t particularly good.

If we win on Saturday he'll come in and we're not far off European places points wise

Haven’t told anyone to calm down about it.

We’ve every right to be enthusiastic and excited, like I said it will be a hell of a ride and I’m looking forward to it no matter what happens.

But as per, unsurprisingly, if you say anything that’s construed as anything other than uber-positive, you’re shouted down.
right, I think everyone gets it, you're a bit concerned that he might not be good at fighting relegation.
got it.

The difference in media coverage of Everton and other clubs

Amazing, isn't it? Arteta gets 3 fawning articles in the Guardian... Be interesting to see what Ancelotti joining us warrants

When you have spent the best part of 2 decades managing mostly top clubs and winning pretty much everything there is to win, it must be extremely tempting and refreshing to be offered a chance to manage a club that has a really good history but has been on a downer for a long time and is owned by a billionaire who has promised to give you as much money and power as is required to bring said club back to the top.

It was a done deal from the beginning and i doubt he was ever even interested in going anywhere else at the time, probably would have had a years holiday.

Watching him on the touchline and in charge of our team on boxing day is going to be the most exciting day in about 25 years for me.

All about this, its a 50/50 at the end of the day. Alot of people would say we are being pessimistic as per but id say with ancelotti we are more on the side of caution with an attitude of wel lets just throw the dice and see what happens. Whereas a mark hughes, moyes type would just be us basically jumping straight back on the hamster wheel and have everyone's backs up from the start.
Yeah mate and we also need to get many things right from Top to bottom including players in and players out. This will give us the best chance for success with a manager that has proved with the tools he can do it.

We have a proven winner at the helm. First time that has happened since kendall left us a generation ago.
