2019/20 Carlo Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti has done well in his two games in charge but they were games that we would have been extremely disappointed to have lost. The next two games are going to be a massive test for the players and the tactical nous of the manager. Now that we've just beaten a couple of the tough awkward teams, I'm really looking forward to seeing how we equip ourselves for the task ahead and cope against a couple of the best.
Under Silva I couldn’t see where our next win was coming from. And I guarantee after Newcastle equalised they would have gone on to beat us, like last season when we threw away a 2 goal lead. The man is a genius if he gets anything from the next 2 games. I would have preferred those games a month down the line, when he’s had longer to work with the squad.

Not luck.

Silva wanted Rojo, Brands backed Holgate, thats not luck.

Did he though because all signs pointed to us wanting Zouma back from Chelsea but the transfer ban ruled that out. Zouma was our top priority apparently. We chased that deal until late in the window before realising we hadn't given ourselves enough time to properly identify a target. We then supposedly got a move for Smalling rejected.

Everything we heard over the summer pointed to us wanting to bring in a new CB.

Burnley at home is an easy game, but Newcastle have a great home record this season, defo not an easy place to go.

I know our home record has been poor for years, but I think people overlook how many teams are great at home.

No we defo wanted a CB, im just saying Brands had a last-minute choice, he could sign Rojo or back Holgate, he went for the 2nd option.

But ive said many times, the lack of a CB was for me the only negative of the transfer window.

As I said in the match thread:

Props to Ancelotti for his subs today.
Delph came in and sured up the midfield, Coleman added much needed energy from the back and Mina came in and threw Carrol around like the big horses arse looking biff that he is. Great stuff :D
I’m surprised Mina didn’t come on earlier. Keane was all at sea against Carroll

In a way feel some sympathy for Silva with VAR and injuries. Moshiri has also stated that he is an exceptional coach and he may be. But therein lies the huge difference and one which will hopefully benefit us going forward:

Silva a good coach (apparently) but Anchelotti a great manager of players and games. The difference between the two styles and what was necessary at EFC is stark.

To think we wasted that great fixture list start with silva. Norwich villa brighton....all those losses. Could quite easly be sitting in 4th on 34 points now if we hadnt stuck with an absolute chancer.
Ah well. Onwards and all that.
