2019/20 Carlo Ancelotti

Liverpool close down very well, however they do it on the edge of of the law and always look like giving away a foul. I think they get the benefit of luck a lot in these instances. We need to be in their faces and much more physically imposing when this happens. I would like to see some handbags.
I always felt that they got away with a lot of things that could be fouls, but once the referee didn’t give them we became more and more timid.
We need to start swarming the referee, complaining and pushing for decisions.
I think also sometimes we should stand up and take the file rather than back out. The Liverpool players Went into tackles full blooded and we jump out the way. If we had stood our ground it would have been a foul.

Lol. Questioning Ancelotti.

FFS.

He has nothing to prove here. He's done it all. He's been given a disjointed and quite frankly untalented group of players and he'll have to work through that in 2/3/4 windows.

....he has everything to do here, though. Had Silva sent that team out he’d have rightly been challenged. It was very poorly set-up.

Is it? We have played how many games in the past few weeks? Hadn’t we just played our first team against City as well? Players had to be tired.

People are more concerned with who we lost to and less concerned with how or why. We will get better as the season progresses. This was a silly fixture to get upset about as we never win there.
Yes. It’s still shocking and pathetic. Packed fixture list or not.

I totally agree. And that's my point. His task of inspiring, organising and motivating the team today, which is absolutely in his job description, should've been easy.

But he didn't. The players looked bereft of confidence. Shattered by the occasion and none of them really seemed to know what to do.

That's on him. The players aren't good enough, but as manager he's responsible for the Football we play.

Arteta, Solskjaer, Lampard have all gone in to clubs out of sorts and had immediate impacts - the 'new manager bounce' we all craved.

It's not really happened and today has been the most humbling defeat I can recall.
Mate once they cross the line he is basically done he can change it a bit yes but if your players dont want it then there is not a great deal he can do about it other than replace them in the future which will happen. He cant put pace and mobility into siggy and snides can he, he cant make dcl control the ball he has to want to do that himself.Carlo has a big job in front of him and he needs backing.

If we score any of the 3 sitters or 2 good chances then we win the game and its praise job done.

Did find it odd not getting 3 in the middle second half, but first half it was working.

Job done but not sure about praise.

Central midfield wasn’t working all game but the strategy seemed to be to play through them to get it out wide. It never changed, there was no plan B given LFC response to plan A. When we went long, there was no strategy there either.

Out of possession was more infuriating than in possession. The amount of times I saw two players pressing one person only to leave one clear and obvious pass available made me want to drink bleach.

And it’s a manager’s job to get them fired up simply to press and put a tackle in, especially if the football isn’t happening. You could see more and more during the second half that long distance shots were available. In the end they got lucky with one going in. 99 times out of 100 it doesn’t, but we ran that risk and paid for it.

No excusing the players at all. But they are neither robots nor free spirits; somewhere in between. They generally try to do what they are told. Thats why it’s on the manager as well.

He didn’t look at all happy with them out there today.

At least he has well and truly seen the standard of ‘professionals’ he has to work with now and what they have to ‘offer.

Hopefully he will have been on the phone to Brands/Moshiri right after the game demanding a very active transfer window.

Let's have it right they've been performing like his for months. Yeah he gets a free ride. If was a player out there today and seen that Liverpool team in front of me,I'd have been rubbing my hands, but no they decided to go into their shells again. I didn't see anyone put one solid tackle in! Every single player is responsible for himself when he crosses that line, Ancelotti can't do it for them. We are talking about them playing against kids! Never mind that their most experienced player went off injured....Again I'll say,All on the players this one.
Sorry mate, but take a look at that starting midfield he selected. Ancelotti should be embarrassed.

People on here keep telling me we have a good squad of players and I just can't see it. There's enough for us to grind out the victories we need to get to mid table but in terms of character, personality and quality? Complete and utter vacuum.

I will never begin to understand how so much money has been squandered on so many players who just aren't good enough. Ancelotti has a ridiculous job on his hands to turn the club around.
