Oh don Carlo, you in Jordan Pickford's baseball cap is all I need

Edit: 3 minutes and not a single Rondo. What are they even doing in training?! BOOOO!

It's almost like the rondo doesn't translate. Weird. They were essentially doing the same thing with in-game situations and tight quarters passing against a press.

CARLO OUT

For some reference of how Ancelotti runs training, much to the chagrin of people like Robben

“I’m not a coach who kills his players in training. Most of the drills we do involve the ball, I don’t like running a lot without the ball, but my players average 6,000, 7,000 metres. That’s enough.”
“In Spain there is a saying: ‘demasiada agua mata la planta’ – too much water kills the plant. It’s the same with training. The dosage must be right. You can train hard, but you have to give the body the chance to relax.”

Carlo has a solid base of quality players to build around:

Richarlison
Digne
Gomes (when fit)
Delph
Bernard
Mina
Sidibe

Think we'll see him get more of a tune out of the younger players with clear instructions, DCL, Davies, Holgate and Iwobi will all benefit from clear roles in the squad.

Even under Ferguson we saw what clear roles and playing to players' strength could do for the likes of Walcott and Schneiderlin.

I expect Sigurdsson to be given a chance because of his reputation but I do hope a proven winner like Carlo won't hesitate in volleying him back down to the bench if he continues his hologram like presence in our midfield.

I'm not expecting miracles this season but I know even with our current injury list we have more than enough to get back into the top half, keep yourself in there until spring and you'll likely have a shot of Europe.

Give him the funds for another CM and a pacey and dynamic CB in January and our chances increase significantly.

The FA Cup, as depressing as it is for me to say, probably gonna be a bridge too far. Would be made up for us to pull off a win at Anfield but just can't see it, get them back to Goodison though and you never know.

We need a captain. A proper leader on the pitch who won't stand any messing and isn't crocked constantly.

That is the basis to build from.

Paul Wilson in the Guardian says getting Everton in the upper reaches of the league in 4 and a half years is "bordering on unachievable"

Why? Why are Lecister so much better positioned than Everton?

What is this weird hang up the football media have with Everton ?

Basically 'journalists' are just individuals like any of us on here, who, rather than air our off the cuff, or thought out opinions on here, get paid to peddle their, or their employers agenda.

Why anyone in this day and age pays any attention to journalism is beyond me. Just make your own judgements, the internet is full of information, be that sport, political based or just trivia.

:)

Bordering on the unachievable, but we achieved it under moyes and then Martinez.

Their going berserk because the steady little world they report on relies on the elite constantly being the elite. If the narrative changes, they have to think about it a bit and account for the changes.

A stale old hack who has no insight whatsoever.

Wrong. Parma finished 5th the season before Ancelotti joined. They finished 2nd in Ancelotti's first season, which is still their best ever season in the league. He was saying they weren't a big club. Yes, they were a good team, but had never been in Serie A before the 1990's.
Parma were massive when he took over from Nevio Scala. Scala won the Cup Winners Cup, UEFA Cup and the Coppa Italia there. He also got third in Serie A.

Ancelotti did not perform nearly as well. His first season was poor, his second he got them to second, but then he got sacked the next season after crashing out of the Champions League, finishing sixth and, most egregiously, scuppering a deal to bring Roberto Baggio to Parma.
