2019/20 Carlo Ancelotti

Players do not turn crap overnight. Looking back at our transfers, every journalist was parroting each other how well Everton have spend. For the past few seasons Everton have been dubbed the winners of the transfer market. We have a good squad. That's why Ancelotti took the role. It has massively underperformed. Moise Kean is a prime example, there is an excellent striker there.

Word.

The buys are good players. They have done well and shown their abilty at their previous clubs. Now hopefully we have a man that will shape them into very good players, maybe even one will become exceptional. Allied with better buying clout from Carlo's reputation and a players desire to play for the best manager, we are on to something that must surely develop into a high quality outfit that will finally begin to compete with those that are that already.

Ambition isn't just about bringing the right players in.

It's about taking a loss, if necessary, to be able to move players out that have been identified as unsuitable, as quickly as possible.

If nobody will buy Keane at the £30m we paid, that's unsurprising. There will be buyers at £15m-£20m though and it may mean we have to give him a bigger severance than we'd like.
just 12 months ago when he scored for england the media had keane lined up for arsenal and chelsea at 50 mil

Carlo has a solid base of quality players to build around:

Richarlison
Digne
Gomes (when fit)
Delph
Bernard
Mina
Sidibe

Think we'll see him get more of a tune out of the younger players with clear instructions, DCL, Davies, Holgate and Iwobi will all benefit from clear roles in the squad.

Even under Ferguson we saw what clear roles and playing to players' strength could do for the likes of Walcott and Schneiderlin.

I expect Sigurdsson to be given a chance because of his reputation but I do hope a proven winner like Carlo won't hesitate in volleying him back down to the bench if he continues his hologram like presence in our midfield.

I'm not expecting miracles this season but I know even with our current injury list we have more than enough to get back into the top half, keep yourself in there until spring and you'll likely have a shot of Europe.

Give him the funds for another CM and a pacey and dynamic CB in January and our chances increase significantly.

The FA Cup, as depressing as it is for me to say, probably gonna be a bridge too far. Would be made up for us to pull off a win at Anfield but just can't see it, get them back to Goodison though and you never know.

Kind of agree with you but I also think we've a bad habit of over rating our players too but on the flip side we've had managers who haven't used the players correctly also.

Imo only Digne, Richarlison and Mina would probably get into the starting line up of a top 6 side.

Gomes if he kept consistent and comes back OK from his injury would prob be included in the above. Same for Pickford, regarding consistency and keeping his head in the game.

Kean and Gbamin we can't really judge yet, could be worldies or more mid table quality.

Rest of the squad consists of players with potential such as DCL or mid table quality players like Walcott then utter dross like Martina. Unfortunately that's where we are at. We are about 6 players short of a top 6 side, top 4 at a push with some luck.

That can change into something even better with Ancelloti, a few world class players and the right mix of squad chemistry but will take time imo. This season is a write off, next is rebuilding and pushing the top sides and maybe a good cup run or win. Season after that is hopefully when we start seeing real change. Will take time, even Ancelloti said it won't happen over night but the fact he is even here shows we're making the right moves to be on the right path.

Annoyingly, on his day, he is our best player.
