So Duncan how did you manage to land this job? “ It was easy, I tapped into Carlo’s Italian psyche and made him an offer he couldn’t understand “

Parma were massive when he took over from Nevio Scala. Scala won the Cup Winners Cup, UEFA Cup and the Coppa Italia there. He also got third in Serie A.

Ancelotti did not perform nearly as well. His first season was poor, his second he got them to second, but then he got sacked the next season after crashing out of the Champions League, finishing sixth and, most egregiously, scuppering a deal to bring Roberto Baggio to Parma.
All I’m saying is you do not need to pad his CV - he is already one of the most successful managers in the world!

If we were to lose against Burnley Davek will be on saying CA rubbish and that statistically Ferguson's the better manager - lol

Mancini won the league in his second full season with Man City. Just saying..
This is what I keep comparing this signing too. From 2003 to signing Mancini in 2009 city finished no higher than 9th, struggled to get big names in and were clearly the LA Clippers of Manchester. (Sorry for the yankee reference) . But then they saw an influx of money, they go out and show ambition to sign a top name coach in Mancini, who in turn was able to make city appealing to bigger players (Boeteng, Silva, etc.) and look where they are now. I feel like we need one top rated player to choose us in the summer and the flood gates could open. The board just needs to now back the path they have chosen or this will all be for not once again.

No, you're wrong. Parma finished 2nd in Ancelotti's first season. I'm well aware his predecessor at Parma won trophies and he didn't. I wasn't suggesting he'd transformed them into a great team. My original post was just correcting Keiran when he said they finished 2nd the year before he arrived, but they actually finished 2nd in Ancelotti's first season. Also, although Parma were a very good team, they weren't a massive club. They'd only spent six seasons in Serie A, at the time, after spending their entire history in the lower leagues prior to that. That's what Ancelotti meant at the press conference.

Check Ancelotti's Wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlo_Ancelotti

Or, if you don't trust Wiki, look at this page: https://www.football-italia.net/130188/rise-fall-and-rise-again-parma

If people want to be negative about Carlo Ancelotti's appointment, that's entirely up to them, but they could at least get their facts right if they're going to do so.

You must be gutted your hero didn't get the job.
