I hope he's hammering home to the players that if they are bang at it against West Ham on Saturday and then Newcastle at home on Tuesday, we could easily be sitting in 6th/7th place with a real shot at 5th.

This is our 2nd season without European football and are we all the better for it? Nope.

Its another trophy to aim for with a massive prize at the end of it.

Its also worth 20m+ in terms of cash money.

Not CL money, but not the waste of time and effort it used to be.

It needs to be the bare minimum mate until we are in a position to compete for a CL slot.

Regardless of how many games it is, that's offset by every season us getting knocked out of either the league Cup or Fa Cup at the first time of asking.

Got to be something we aim for this season so the season isn't a complete write off.

Heard this morning that Setien has never won a trophy at any of the six clubs he’s managed
Bit of a strange one for Barca

Pep's experience before landing the job in 2008 was one year with a 4th division Barca B. Lucho, had no titles and 2 years of senior coaching. Rijkaard with one season that saw his team relegated before getting the job at Barcelona.

Barca haven't signed a big name coach in decades yet they have won plenty of trophies during that time with those they did appoint. To coach at Barcelona, you have to tick the right boxes and I am ecstatic Quique is at the helm since he ticks most of them better than anyone atm not named Guardiola

All that you say about Barca is right but it does help to be the richest club in Europe which we are nowhere near.

Helps when you are meant to have a playing philosophy, club usually sticks to that but this board has not been doing that. Big reason why fans are excited about Setien - he may be a headscratcher for most outside of Spain but he's very well known within it

He seems to be really enjoying it here. Surprised like most new managers/players about the size of our club and how Great the fan base CAN be

mad that some people on here don't want it as well

European nights are great

I kind of get it when people say we’re more likely to have a top 4 push if we don’t have to worry about playing all the extra Europa games. But people said that last year about this season and look how that’s worked out...

Clearly not being in the Europa doesn’t guarantee more success in the league, but being in the Europa does guarantee some boss European clashes, reputation growth and greater revenue so I’m all for it.

Personally, I don't want European football unless it's the CL. You've seen how many teams struggle after a Thursday night game in the PL.
