2019/20 Carlo Ancelotti

Pickford screwed us and Carlo put us under unnecessary pressure with bad substitutions are both things that can be true at the same time.

No the players take full responsibility. I doubt he told two of our players to both leave a header to each other.

I doubt he told our keeper to flap one then stand behind his goal line for another.

But maybe he did though? Maybe I'm wrong? Since it all seems to be Ancelottis fault.

I don't see why Pickford has come in for more criticism than the players in front of him though.

He'd dived to make a save. The shot was blocked. He got back to his feet in literally half a second yet none of our defenders had reacted to stop the follow up - like with the first goal.

Watch that 2jd goal again though mate, he actually dives backwards and that's his issue...he ain't a front footed keeper. Just one step forward that shot goes straight at him.

He looks like an absolute tit for the 2nd goal, the 1st goal is just standard.

He looked boss for Sunderland because they had 90 shots a game at them and trust me, no one wanted him to work for us more than me cos I can see a lot of positives.

But you can't blag Evertonians when it comes to keepers, he makes easy saves look hard, can't control the box, is twitchy in decision making and add all that in lto the mixer, he hasn't improved at us. So we spent 30m on a keeper who is Probabky worth... 30m

Our DoF then signed a keeper in Lossl who can't even shake off Steklenburg as his rival.

The idea that Pickford was to blame has lifted some of the gloom off me. The humour of it, or maybe not humour and some folks are as thick as planks. So Carlo believes it was "just one of those things", and apparently it has happened to Carlo before. Oh.
But he is paid huge money to avoid making unnecessary and bizarre substitutions. Geordie fans at the match offered their delighted thanks on the way out, changing from abusing their hopeless team to cheering Everton.
Must remember to finish with "its all Pickford's fault".

Why where the subs unnecessarily

I'd agree with you if he hadn't made the same sub against Brighton (an attacker off for Coleman and Coleman to RB while moving to Sidibe to RM) and it having the exact same effect. We got lucky that they missed chances that day.

Ancelotti takes some blame here. They were totally useless until he changed up the build up patterns and surrendered some of the possession.

Anyone blaming Ancelotti at this point should really have a word with themselves.

He's been here exactly 1 month today. He took over an absolute mess of a squad that was hobbled together over the previous 3-4 years, with 4 failed managers and 2 directors of football, has barely had any time to work with the players, maybe 2 full weeks of training. He has injuries to several key players and we've played 7 games 26 days, which is a game less than every 4 days.

Today, we absolutely dominated that game, and looked to be closing it out professionally. He could not legislate for that horror show that came after, and he will be as angry as anyone else.

The last thing we need at the moment is to start the anti-Carlo brigade. This is an intelligent man, with loyalty and integrity, a man who has been successful everywhere he has been. And he could be the best thing to happen to this club in a long, long time. But he needs time and support.

If you want to blame anyone tonight, you blame the players who couldn't hold on for 2 minutes. More precisely, the idiot goalkeeper whos tiny brain and massive ego won't allow him to control his temperament and close out a game the opposition were never in.

Im as angry and as bewildered as anyone after what i saw tonight, but anyone who is pointing that anger at the manager is just bang out of order.

Tonight reinforces the cowardice bunch of players he has inherited.
His job is thankless as shipping some of these out of the club will be almost impossible
The other thing that jumps out is the supporters are going to need some massive commitment and fight from these players before getting behind them

I am confident he will get it right.... but a massive task
