I don't see why Pickford has come in for more criticism than the players in front of him though.

He'd dived to make a save. The shot was blocked. He got back to his feet in literally half a second yet none of our defenders had reacted to stop the follow up - like with the first goal.

That was a fluke if I’ve ever seen one. Yes, Pickford should have done much better with the first and yeah some of the subs weren’t really impactful but we gave away TWO goals in the final 2 minutes of extra time. That is bananas.

Not great but our bench has no depth due to injuries. But we did need fresh legs.

I blame the players for poor mentality in dropping deep and making errors.

Holgate and Davies take blame too no doubt. Both ducked a header. Its unacceptable.

The idea that Pickford was to blame has lifted some of the gloom off me. The humour of it, or maybe not humour and some folks are as thick as planks. So Carlo believes it was "just one of those things", and apparently it has happened to Carlo before. Oh.
But he is paid huge money to avoid making unnecessary and bizarre substitutions. Geordie fans at the match offered their delighted thanks on the way out, changing from abusing their hopeless team to cheering Everton.
