2019/20 Carlo Ancelotti

Anyone blaming Ancelotti at this point should really have a word with themselves.

He's been here exactly 1 month today. He took over an absolute mess of a squad that was hobbled together over the previous 3-4 years, with 4 failed managers and 2 directors of football, has barely had any time to work with the players, maybe 2 full weeks of training. He has injuries to several key players and we've played 7 games 26 days, which is a game less than every 4 days.

Today, we absolutely dominated that game, and looked to be closing it out professionally. He could not legislate for that horror show that came after, and he will be as angry as anyone else.

The last thing we need at the moment is to start the anti-Carlo brigade. This is an intelligent man, with loyalty and integrity, a man who has been successful everywhere he has been. And he could be the best thing to happen to this club in a long, long time. But he needs time and support.

If you want to blame anyone tonight, you blame the players who couldn't hold on for 2 minutes. More precisely, the idiot goalkeeper whos tiny brain and massive ego won't allow him to control his temperament and close out a game the opposition were never in.

Im as angry and as bewildered as anyone after what i saw tonight, but anyone who is pointing that anger at the manager is just bang out of order.
Agreed. I also believe Pickford will be top of the list for departure. We need a goalkeeper who can command his box and organise the defence. He makes the odd worldy save and that’s it.

Giving away a foul doesnt cost you the game, being inept at defending them does

He shouldn't have given the foul away in the first place. Invites pressure.

They scored what should have been nowt more than a consolation. We had the ball back on the centre circle with 60 seconds on the clock. Knock it about, draw them on and then hit their corner flag.

Simple stuff.

And we need a defence which would listen and work together as a functioning unit which we haven't had in six years.

The good news is you can easily see the changes he's made to the attacking set up and it is working. The bad news is he has had a couple of really conservative games with substitutes and it has now cost us points. No reason to ever bring Coleman on and switch to that shifting backline when the other team can barely get a touch of the ball.
