Agreed. I also believe Pickford will be top of the list for departure. We need a goalkeeper who can command his box and organise the defence. He makes the odd worldy save and that’s it.

Pickford isn't our problem. He hasn't had his best season but he isn't costing us often.

The subs put us under pressure. He did the same thing against Brighton, bringing on Coleman and pushing Sidibe on, and it put us under pressure then as well. We hung on so he decided it was a sound move and on this occasion he was wrong.

Didn't say it was.

But bringing poor footballers on doesn't help.

And then - as you rightly say - that comes down to a lack of options, and lack of options shouldn't be an issue, because we have a DoF who should have had stuff in place. That's the point of a DoF - continuous transitions etc behind the scenes.

I don't see why Pickford has come in for more criticism than the players in front of him though.

He'd dived to make a save. The shot was blocked. He got back to his feet in literally half a second yet none of our defenders had reacted to stop the follow up - like with the first goal.

It's more the thought that there's another lifetime to come that's the issue

after spending my better years trawling the country watching some of the worst football imaginable, I’m more than positive about our future

I’m literally not arsed about this season, but for the first time in a very very long time I’m more than confident we’ll have a trophy or two within 3 years
