Love the fact that we have this guy but can anyone give me one good reason he started Iwoeful ahead of St Bernard yesterday?
Height at set-pieces. simple really, our weakest area of the pitch has been set-pieces. couldn't afford to have a midfield of three midgets and siggy, and play Richarlison (5ft10) and hope not to concede considering the height of the Watford team. Maybe playing Kean with DCL up top, with Richy for walcott, could allow Bernard to come in for Iwobi and still maintan height for set-pieces. but Ancelotti did what he did, not what i would've done.

5 11 aint all that. Plus,I can never recall him winning any defensive headers. Is height at set pieces really why you would change one of your best attacking players?Watford are quite a big physical team though.

Who knows.

Other than how they play in training, it's all i can think of tactically. Iwobi ain't that tall but Bernard is a proper midget. Plus Iwobi with his physique is going to be better at out muscling other players in a defensive situation (i'd hope).
If we had been looking solid at set-pieces beforehand i would never make that change, but we haven't so sometimes you have to sacrifice an attacking player, just to stop conceding in set-piece situations.

Should have sacrificed winning goal Theo instead...hindsight eh.

At least we probably wouldn't have conceded that first goal if Richy was rs instead of Theo. He just about saved himself by scoring the winning goal.

He was close to his worst ever showing for us until that point, I am not sure about redemption but it saved him a little bit of flak. He was awful up until then, how can you go from not a bad footballer at all to not being able to weight a pass? Hoping the goal will give him confidence for palace.

Change of subject, but imagine were we would be in the league if had half the points that useless Silva lost, champion league would be ours.
THis 5 year period has to go down as the biggest missed opportunity. Wrong managers hiring the wrong players for big bucks. and then this weird season which we will not be able to capitalise on. If we had started off Mosh reign with a proper manager making proper signings we would literally be champs league regulars now, instead we are playing catch up AGAIN.

We're all made up by the come back today but we can't look beyond how grim that performance was. Massive changes needed and as I've said on many occasions no one should judge Ancelotti between now and May. We are going to put in some shocking performances and it's not his fault.
Hopefully this is not the case and the players play above themselves in the hope of gaining a new contract , at their next football club because a lot of them will be gone by Aug 2021

I look at Leicester, we were a better team than them last season, certainly up until they appointed Rodgers, they finished 9th, within 12 months they're challenging for Champions league place. I see no good reason we can't emulate that myself( maybe not in 12 months like )... Look at the turn around in form/results since Silva was sacked. I think it's deffo achievable, Then I remember we're Everton and my optimism drains away.
I look at these player and see no heart, no character, no fight when the going gets tough.

If Ancelotti adds a few leaders then maybe.

Dunno mate. Richarlison, Kean and Walcott busting a gut in the 90th minute to get a winner shows some heart, no?

But we do need leaders.

90th minute, 3 players pulling their tripe out to get the win when down to 10 men.

But no heart, no desire.

I wonder what Carlo thinks.

Oh.

Carlo certainly seems to be doing something right. Yes, we still do Everton things (i.e. Delph getting himself sent off) but the improvement is there for all to see. I like that Carlo is giving game time to Iwobi and Kean (and even Keane got 20 minutes) and we still get a result.

Carlo is slowly putting things right and getting a look at all his squad - meanwhile if City beat Tottenham then we can go 6th with a home win against Palace at the weekend.
