Well until we become a stable European club this is the cycle of Everton sadly.
sell good player > invest in new player > be crap > good player wants to leave
Yup. We need to solidify a top 6/7 finish each season or else we’ll be forever also ran’s who sell their best players. Not easy to do now, especially since we set fire to £500 mill since Mosh took over.

I think this season is about building a solid base and getting up into the top half of the PL. Once we have the immediate priority areas sorted (CM and RB probably) I think we can start looking at adding some class in other areas of the pitch. A top GK, CB and striker required if we really want to kick on.

Thats virtualy a new team. Im not expecting anything until he can slowly replace the dross thats been bought before he arrived.
I dont see this squad as a top half team. I see pressure next season when i can already see a struggle.
Need at least 3 in for next season to start the ball rolling.
Good luck Carlo. Apologies for what you have been left to work with.

We have a big problem in central midfield but most other areas of the team look quite capable.

A new spine in midfield could transform the performances of all the other players as well.

Yeah it is pretty much a new team. Which is a sad indictment of our recruitment for the past number of years. Spent a fortune on players that will struggle to finish top half.

I think we’re short a top quality striker if we want to really compete. And I would also say Pickford has a massive question mark against him. We’re ok at CB but could get better to partner Holgate.

Maybe a new CM will lead to improvements elsewhere. Certainly have my fingers crossed.

Midfield is the engine room of the team and at present we look weak and slow in that position.

I think there is little doubt that the manager has looked at the team and realised he is wasting his time until that problem is addressed.
I believe he has put other areas on the back burner until he first fixes this problem.

A properly functioning midfield could mean that Richarlison can afford to do a little less defensive work.
It may allow Iwobi to concentrate more on attacking because in his last few games he was more full back than winger... I am probably being kind here.

It might allow Digne and Coleman to have more confidence going forward without the fear of being totally caught out of position if the go over the half way line and may provide more support for the strikers who very often look totally isolated.

Finally, they could provide cover for the back four who had precious little of that last season.

A big ask indeed, but that is what a proper midfield brings to a team.

We have no chance of getting anywhere near the European places this season. The club has given up on that now. We’re just making up the numbers and trying to survive.
That’s a big issue , any sign of us being in trouble and they get rid of the manager , if we have a poor first half and we’re languishing near the bottom three then they will press the panic button

Are you saying that is the case because we haven't signed anybody yet ? or even if we do then we have no chance of a successful season anyway ?

I would like to know what your predictions are (incoming and outgoing) until the window closes for you to make such a gloomy prediction.
