How many top end premier league teams pull a goal back before half-time after going behind against cr@p opposition, and come out in the second half and pummel the opponents with wave after wave of attacks? I'd say most good teams do that.

Did we tonight?
Have we ever done it?

Something seriously wrong.
How many times have we seen the same rubbish performance against championship fodder teams this season (and last)?

There’s teams around us, namely across the park, who’ve gone a goal down and haven’t done that against worst teams. The only team that attacks at will no matter the score, are the team that’s 17 points clear at the top

The defensive-approach works against the best teams who come out to play and attack against us but we have to find a more positive approach against the bottom half clubs. We're far too negative and I'm absolutely sick of seeing a diamond formation or four central midfielders shoehorned into the team.

I thought the overly-defensive approach during the second half of last season was due to the squad and not having time to implement a style or identity but its continued on. Even our wins haven't been convincing this season and we're just not dominating teams as we should be, particularly at home.

I'm really really hoping that another Summer, bringing in a RB, CM at least two forward/wide players makes a difference, but definitely some concerns at the moment.

I'm aware our squad is extremely unbalanced and woefully insufficient in certain positions (the entire right side) I'm not asking for the blistering and exquisite attacking football of man city, bayern or regulation threatened teams when they play us, just a competent and purposeful performance. Carlo is known for his extraordinary skills in managing players but I rarely see them galvanized. Yes he is one of the most renown managers of the modern game and he improved our results in contrast to the past season so I'm thankful that he chose this club. At the same he shouldn't be absolved from scrutiny.

We have not dominated a game for 6 months., but have been dominated many times since. I love him but his motivational skills are shot

Some of the performances have been really poor, but I read the other day that we haven’t been able to put out our first choice team since early October.

These two things are not unrelated.

See, I don't agree here.

Carlo's a great motivator - look what he's done with Dom, or in individual games like the derby.

It's not motivation, it seems to me to be a bit of attention to detail.

I really do think it comes from him managing so many elite players down the years. He's used to players, when they are playing teams that are on paper not as good as them, being able to go out and show their worth. Now, I'm sure he knows that it's an issue, he clearly does. But so far, he's not shown many signs of being able to arrest that form, which is an issue.

It's hugely frustrating. I don't think he got it badly wrong tonight - like he did in the games against Fulham and Newcastle (away). I just think it's another example of us not being good enough creatively, and that has been an issue in games we've won as well as lost.

That's all I'm wanting. Some structure and idea of how to attack without a key player. We can't be so reliant on James, because he can't play half of our games.
